I'd love to see a Hobbit movie from Jackson, but without his vision and dedication behind the film it will be a pale imitation.

The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings story, focusing mainly on Bilbo Baggins, the uncle of Frodo. The premise of the book is:
Gandalf recruits Bilbo to help a group of 12 dwarves (including the father of Gimli from LoTR) to kill a dragon that has taken over the dwarves' mountain home. Along the way, Bilbo finds the One Ring, which Gollum has lost. Bilbo uses the Ring to confront and trick the dragon, who attacks a nearby human town and is killed. Shortly after, a four way war breaks out between the humans, dwarves, elves, and trolls to see who will claim the mountain and the tons of gold inside it.
