The world as we know it would be a lot different. The US would be two countries at least and who knows where the Confederate States would be at right now when it comes to human rights. I mean imagine if slavery were allowed to continue? Unless it was abolished with the Civil War it might very well STILL be going on unless there was another war later on to retake the Confederate States or something.
