I think last season Kovalev was a better leader on ice than Koivu.
On the ice yes, but we'd still need him in the locker room. Kovalev did lead on the ice, and helped the young guns a lot, but he was definitely a quiet leader when it came in the locker room. Koivu as been there for a long **** time, and he knows when to step it up by words and his play. Plus Koivu's heart is still needed on this team, and trading him would cause a lot of problems for les Habitants. I just phrased my agreement wrongfully. I apologize.

Even if it did happen, it's not right. Sundin has not proved himself as a leader to the Hab franchise. Sure, the Maple Leafs.. but Toronto is a different team, different people, different attitude. the fact of the matter is Higgins should have priority over Montreal than Sundin. why? because it's his team, he was there in 2006 when they dropped a 2-0 lead the the Canes, he was there in 2007, he stepped up his play and scored 2 goals in a 6-5 loss to TO and missed the playoff, he was there when they got upset by the Flyers in 2008. He may not be consistent during the Regular season but he is a great leader and he has some skills in every aspect of the game, he can score, he can play on the special teams, he can play defensive, he can lead a team. I'd also give Kovalev a C before Sundin.. but Kovalev is a selfish player at times.
Higgins hasn't shown any leadership skills whatsoever. He does critisize is play or the Habs play from time to time, but he wont take the bull by the horn and get his team over the hump when his team is struggling. Sundin can do those things. He's been there through all the times you've mentioned, but how many times did he actually led by example??? Maybe once. I've talked to many Habs fan who would give up the ''C'' to Sundin if Koivu was ever traded. Heck I even think Higgins would be gone by the Trade Deadline. Listen I'm a Higgins fans, and you wouldn't beleive how much i want him to succeed, but he's just not consistent enough to rely on him.

As you can see he got 20+ goals since, and has been getting better each year. On the other hand you can't say the same about Plekanec. Plekanec may be more talented when it comes to play making, but he is more one-dimensional than Higgins. Higgins can be used for just about anything on the ice.
Your definitel wrong on that one. Higgins is way more one-dimensional then Pleks. Higgins cant set up another player to save his life, same can be said about finishing a play to score a goal. If your talking about fore-checking or PK time...Pleks is definitely two times better then Higgins on both aspect. Ask any Habs fan and they'll tell you that they rather have Plekanec then Higgins. Just ask Babe Ruth he'll agree with me.
