Yes thats how a democracy works, we vote for officials we feel will best represent our ideals, in turn these officials get jobs where they get to decisions.

Human minds are far to simple, and far to easily taken advantage of. Manipulation is all that is needed to sway any large society. Look at history. How many times has a whole society been manipulated into something horrible?? It is scary how easy people can be controlled.
I really don't know, as I don't really think we've every really been bamboozled into committing atrocities. Take the holocaust, did all those Nazi's get the wool pulled over their eyes or did they actually believe in what Hitler was doing. Head over to Stromfront and they're people still following his ideals, and the Nazi party isn't doing so hot politically.

There are two type of people. You have the everyday nobodys of society who sit back and let the government make the decisions, and you have the people who controll the nobodys.
You have voters who elect people into the government, who then get to make decisions regarding policy and vote on issues.
Then you have people who don't vote these really are the people who let the government make decisions for you.

With the help of the media, anyone can become a leader in our government.
Yes that is the beauty of democracy. Anyone can be elected into a position if they run, anywhere from city council to president.

Democracy is a very new type of government. It is still an experiment. So far it has proven to be stable, but how stable is society ever?
AHAHAAHAHAHAHAH oh thats funny stuff.
Democracy was the form of Government used by the Ancient Greeks.

Its been around since 1100BC.

Who was it that once said that each contry should have a revolution every couple years?
If we needed a revolution every few years something would be terribly wrong.

Democracy does a GREAT job of making its society think they have controll. We think we have freedom, but looking at this war and our "leaders" approval rating of like 20%... we can see that we barely have controll.
No, we have control. Here's the thing we elected officials who in turn voted to go to war. The president didn't do it all on his own.

So you go ahead and write a letter to your congressman. You play a good role in society. If we didn't have sheep, we wouldn't have a shepard would we?
I will continue to vote. My question is, BarbieGirl14, what is your plan, what are you going to do to effect positive change? Because if you have a better plan I'd love to hear it.

It is not fair that you say that I havn't any right to speak becasue im not old enough to vote. I may not be old enough to vote, but I see alot more clearly then some of you obsurdley hipocritical nationalistic conservatives who do nothing but "call there congressman"
Hold on let me point this out again....

oh lol, that gets me every time. I think that right there is why you can't vote.
Also I'm not entirely sure what a nationalistic conservative is, and I'm not so sure just being a voter makes me one.
