I was discussing Heath Ledger as an Oscar candidate with my friends, and it was brought up that Aaron Eckhart's role was quite possibly more worthy. The argument was that both did a really good job, but Eckhart had the harder role, because he had such a sudden change. He had to be a convincing "white knight", then play a convincing psychopath, BUT the psychopath had to still have specific similarities to who he had been before.
