There's a difference between not being straight to the point, and having a story that requires 26+ episodes. |: And a lot of anime have very different styles of storytelling. Some anime are only a few minutes long in their entirety, some are six episodes long, and some take a few episodes just to cover five minutes of talking and yelling.

Also, story lines are not supposed to always be straight to the point (They can be, but it neither makes them better or worse on that basis alone), sitcoms are through. Family guy is a sitcom.

And your point is, what?

I don't care,I don't like to get serious about cartoons. I never understood why all these American kids are getting into Japanese cartoons.. and in turn.. Japanese culture. In my opinion, who give's a ****. Okay I'll say it slowly.

TV = Entertainment
Entertainment = sit down and chill
sit down and chill = no worries
no worries = watching a a cartoon or sports
cartoon = not so serious
besides anime.. what other cartoons are as serious as that!? like maybe King of the Hill!

I would recommend

Case closed season 1 (great show if you like murder mysteys)
Slayers ova/movies/series (good mix of fantasy/action and comedy)
paniponi dash (very funny high school comedy)
paranoia agent (very good psycological show )
Fruits basket (nice heartwarming show with good humor)

They are just some that i can recommend if you want any more i can give you a nice long list
