Did you hear the recent news about the Atari 2600? It was just inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in recognition of what it did to make electronic gaming popular. It's a long time coming, but I'm happy the system got recognized for this success.
Is this the first videogame console to make it into the Toy Hall of Fame?
That should have happened a long time ago considering it was one of the biggest reasons gaming became so popular back then. It started the craze and if you look around today, videogames are not going anywhere for a while.
I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel
Yes, it's the first video game console and also the only electronic game to be inducted so far. All of the other inducted toys are things like Legos, frisbees, yo-yos, GI Joes, Barbies, and Etch-A-Sketch.
The NES seems like the logical choice if another game system is inducted. I think there only one set of inductions each year, with only three or four inductees each time.
