Air Cars Are Coming!
Out of the race for fuel efficiency comes a new concept car that runs off of compressed air.
106 mpg 'air car' creates buzz, questions - CNN.com
It gets up to 106 MPG and is expected to be sold for only $18,000 by 2010.
It will be released in India even earlier.

Most manufacturers are trying to make their cars enviromentally friendly, and i say most cause every Merc's rating is horrible, and they're doing their best with the money they have.
All they can come up with with their budget is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation, but to be honest they can do better; blame the Government for that. Eventually they'll do something worth while and still keep the styles.

It's not a bad idea, hopefully they have more cars than just that one choice, they were able to make hydrogen powered cars look cool so I hope that they can do the same thing with this.
I think that regardless of how it looks that it's going to pick up really fast once it's released, compressed air per gallon is so much cheaper than gasoline (especially considering that you can get compressed air at home with an air compressor.) The electricity probably costs a lot less than the gasoline with that type of mileage.

If that car really does prove to be all it claims it will, you better believe I'd rather have it over any other car. I would have no issues only having to spend 80-100 a month on gasoline over the 350-400 and rising it's costing me now.
