I don't know where you're getting your information on auto vehicles but manual vehicles cost more because they don't make nearly as much of them due to the fact that many people do not know how to drive them and do not want to buy them. Every single manual vehicle I have bought has cost me at least 2 grand more due to the fact that it is a manual car and I even asked why and that was the reason.
In Australia its quite the opposite, the auto option in most cars is usually $2000 more.
Personally, I think everyone should be forced to get a manual license, unless you have a disability, manual drivers tend to concentrate on the road and controlling the car more than auto drivers do.
No lie I was at a gas station once and a guy came up in a Corvette. Started talking to him about it (huge Vette fan here) and I asked him why he got the automatic and not the manual. He told me "because I don't like the hassle of shifting gears." My jaw dropped. Who buy a performance car and then gets and automatic because it's a "hassle" to shift? That made no sense to me. When you buy a Corvette it isn't a hassle. It's a pleasure to shift each gear as you hammer down onto the accelerator. Stupid people in this world...
Even though, the mileage is better with a manual, I'd rather buy more gas than get in a wreck.
I completely agree. I can drive a stick to the most basic amount, but I'm just a nub and would rather not wreck....or stall. That happens sometimes with me on a manual.....idk.

Actually usually manuals are cheaper. There are exceptions though (like the new Challenger) but in general automatic transmissions add to a vehicle's price because they are more expensive.

So far, all the cars I've owned (four now!!! Just got my new one today, this very day!! ) have been stick. The only car I ever had that was automatic was the first, but it technically wasn't mine --> It was my parents'.
Jebus fothermucking Cripes, have you lost your mime!?
I kudn't put up with an automatic - they're so boring - u hav no control over the power. They are only really useful in traffic - otherwise, manual all the way for me!
