Go on spill the beans! what insurer is it?
I have not got a clue why a mechanic would have higher insurance, I could not even hazard a guess, I despise the insurance industry. If you can get a good broker you can save yourself a tonne of hassle. If I am allowed and you want it I'll PM you mine, I recommend them. I pay less than £300 and I'm a bloke

Swinton. I've just had a quote off Admrial for over 1400 on a Corsa CDX, V reg with 3000 miles at £2500; my dad is also down as a driver to help keep it down, he didn't think Swinton could be beat.

Damn that is a lot of money, how old are you?
Try these guys Protecta Group insurance brokers. I used to use Admiral. Since switching though I have never paid over £680<<<That was the price I paid when I was 24 and driving an Audi80. Now Im 28, drive a Nissan Micra and pay £300. I sound like an advert but I do honestly recommend them.
Worth a try at least, I hope they can be cheap for you, if you do save money can I have the difference

I did some research on your question. The only thing I came up with is mechanic negligence. This is the first I heard of a insurance Co. pulling such a stunt.

It's because we can tune the engine without the insurers noticing-and cause they're just pencil pushers they can't tell. XD
