Why working in a motor vehicle trade is bad for my car insurance policy? All the provider would tell my Dad was that it was based on statistics and i'd like to know what those statistics are.

Sounds like bull **** to me.

Maybe they think you are going to get someone to make your car supercharged or something and you are going to go out hot rodding?

Makes no sense to me how they come up with their rates although as of late on mine, mine are going up thanks to my jackass of a brother in law repoing a boat on my **** so my credit is tanked.

Apparently, according to what they told Dad, being sat in an office at a computer is better for your insurance than being someone who is going too keep their vehicle well maitained.

I find that a cop out because I'm in an office so to speak when I'm not in clinic see kids and I always keep my cars well maintained only because my jackass of a brother in law is a mechanic lol

Unless someone else on here knows why this is, i'll be going down to the insurer to see those statistics; and if it is because they think i'll modify it i'll tell em their wrong, i'm not a boy-racer and i hate the sound 4inch exhausts make-not to mention that i hate going anwhere over the legal speed limit.

That seems off. I've never looked into insurance statistics though so I can't really figure out why. You definitely need to **** someone out.

What is it that you are doing?

If you are delivering stuff in you vehicle then they are basing your rates on the average of delivery persons accidents/tickets in a total year.

If you use your car for work you are more likely to get into an accident or get tickets than the office worker.

That would be the best explanation of the rates I could tell ya. I know that is how they come up with the rates in the US.

I work on cars, i fix them-nothing more. I'll be using whatever little runner i get to go to work/town/supermarket.

I asked Paul this. He said that they work on the following assumption: because you'll be maintaining other people's cars, you will have little time to maintain your own. Also, due to the large amount of time you spend around them, *something goes here that makes them assume you'll drive like a twat*.

Interesting facts: insurance for company directors are high, even more so for doctors.

Oh please, i'm more likey to keep it better maintained than the customers. A guy came into the garage the other day-the fuel filter had never been serviced and was rusted to ****.
