Car wrecks...post stories and pics here!

Been in a wreck? you know what to do- post your pics and stories here!

My only one-- Well, no other vehicles around-

was Feb 23rd, 2008- (this is copied from my blog on another forum - oh- and when it says "T" that's travis, my bf @ the time- on that site we referred to our S/O by their initials)

I was on my way to my speech competition; And it was about 6:30 am- and I was going about 45 mph- not even...And decided I might be going to fast on the back roads w/ all the slush, applied my breaks a little bit- fishtailed, almost hit a phone poll, freaked out, over corrected it; then continued to the other side of the road; almost went into the row of trees/ditch; freaked out all over again; over corrected it- went into the field; and somehow in the field did a 180; and was parallel to the road, facing the way I was coming from; and I'm pretty sure when i did the 180 I was only on the 2 driver side wheels, and was really close to turning over.

I'm OK- just really shaken up- w/ noodle legs- so to speak...I think I might have whiplash/hit my head...Cause I can't really remember when i did the 180...But looking at the tracks on the road; it just looked like I went into the field; but there was so much mudd spread out- I think I went into the field then did the 180.

other than that- yea...

And the worse part is- I broke the jeep also. When trying to pull the truck out; [in 4 wheel drive w/ the jeep- truck is only 2 wheel] Somehow or another the back drive shaft broke completely off...Sooo I owe my parents more money...Umm..Anndd..Oh.It didn't work.

But we put the jeep back into 2 wheel drive - and @ 10 MPH we got it home; [I was only about 1.5 miles from home] Andd Then got the tow wrecker out there...while waiting for it called T's dad to see if maybe T's truck would get us out- cause the tow wrecker had gotten called to an accident so we had to wait longer..

Well; by the time T's dad and mom and i got to the site; we realized we forgot the truck keys; T's dad and I went back home to get 'em, got back to the truck and the wrecker was there..

Oohhh weelll; turns out that the Tow truck was even sliding backwards when pulling her outta their- but eventually he got it.

Then T's dad changed the tire to the spare; it drove home all right; then he fixed the tire that was orginially on it [it was off the rim pretty far] Anndds changed it again.

So at least the truck is driveable. hopefully.

Here's a couple pics-

Only real damage done ^^

Yup..

I've been a passenger in one in June of 07- just got severe Whiplash- it happens...not soo much fun...

Oh that sucks! Yeah wrecking is definitely high on the DO NOT WANT list.

I've been in one wreck. Was taking the car to get some Taco Bell. Dodge Ram turned in front of me. Nothing I could do. Locked up the brakes and BAM! right into the side of his truck. Luckily my car is all metal though lol. Also I never got my Taco Bell that night...

Luckily the car was sponsored and putting it back together cost next to nothing. This car has come a very long way since when it was purchased. Hell it even came in fourth place in its very first drift event after being "finished" two days before its debut. And it drove 300 miles to get there. Competed. Finished fourth. Then drove 300 miles back. I was NOT going to let this car die after something so trivial as to take out a Dodge pickup truck. She still runs great today.

I have only had one accident! (surprising seeing the mileage I have done) the accident itself was not spectacular but the circumstances around it were surreal.

I have no pictures anymore as this was about 5 years ago.

The vehicle was a Mercedes sprinter

The road was the Boulevard Peripherique in Paris. It is for those who dont know one of the busiest roads in Europe and circles around the centre of Paris.

The traffic was heavy but flowing and for some reason the small lorry in front of me braked sharply and I went straight into the back of him, about 0.5 seconds later I felt a shunt from the back, then another. On inspection there were a total of 6 cars behind me who had crashed top to tail, myself and the lorry. The lorry had braked to avoid the car in front of him who having seen a speed trap panicked and hit the brakes.

As the Peripherique is insurance exempt for me and my vehicle still worked I continued on my journey with some slightly modified bodywork. I drove south of Paris(to collect my delivery) then returned to the UK where I drove into London(to deliver my delivery) and finished the job I was on.

I live about 200 miles from London and was making my way home, about half way back whilst doing about 80mph my vehicle died, all engine power all electronics & all hydraulics. I managed to wrestle her off the road avoiding traffic and phoned for a recovery vehicle and a replacement, about 3 hours later they arrived.
They gave me a new van and took the old one away to inspect it. The report came back a few days later. Apparently the clever little van had thought it had been involved in an accident and for safety reasons decided to shut itself down. A bit of a slow reaction as the accident happened a good 8 hours previously and about 300 miles away in a different country.

I know- same here. I put over 600 miles in my jeep just in the past 2 weeks-(from just driving to a friends place every day to help them move- no trips or anything) Not fun.

But I travel a lot- sooo maybe this means I'm just a good driver?

600 miles in 2 weeks is fairly heavy for private use.

Not quite the scale I was talking about though......I used to do around 2500-5000 miles every week though it was mostly commercial

lol. Surprisingly as bent and beat up as it got, the radiator didn't even leak. I just duct taped my bumper back on, put on some zipties (I am a drifter ya know, I always have zipties) to keep the hood down and off I went back to the house.

The biggest wreck I've been in (that had pics taken) was in 01, so the pics are on film, not digital, and I only have the negatives, no prints, but I can tell you about it.

I was merging onto the freeway and while still in the merge lane some idiot crashed into the side of me (claimed he fell asleep, we don't know if this is true or not) and sent us both doing 360's across the freeway and into the divider. I somehow managed to end up on the complete opposite side of the freeway, hitting the divider with the broad side of the car (the driver's side) facing the flow of traffic. He went into the wall straight on. Somehow we didn't hit anybody else even though there was quite a lot of traffic on the road. The car was totalled, but I only got a bunch of scratches across my back from when the driver's side window shattered and flew into the car.

I was taken away in an ambulance, but more just to be certain everything was okay and cause I was all shook up and alone.
