Ford Australia and America

It seems that Ford America is in a bit of poo and no one is buying their cars, they are having trouble getting some new models I hear, not so sure if that is true but in general, the Americans aren't taking too well to their cars anymore so it seems. General Motors has brought over Australia's Holden Commodore (Pontiac G6 and G8 and GTO) for a while and it hasn't sold very well either. Maybe its time for Ford to bring over the Ford Falcon from Australia? With our dollar going down the gurgler it would be nice and cheap, could sit above the Ford Mustang in the model range or take place as the main "Family car".

Its the competitor to the Holden (General Motors) Commodore, and it absolutely beats the crap out of it in every department, though not stylised like an "American" car, it might not win you guys over in the looks department, but it is a very decent car, good on fuel, fast and safe.

The engine that powers the Ford Falcon is an Inline 6 from that has always been developed from Geelong here in Melbourne, Victoria and its quite the good engine, world class of an Inline 6 I'd bet. If you didn't get the Falcon, the engine out of it could be a viable option in a Ford F100/150 because the amount of torque this thing makes is unreal and could move a Ford F150 + load easily with some power. As I mentioned earlier, now would be a great time to import it because of our Dollar compared to the USD is hovering between 60 and 70 cents.

Theres a few blokes from the USA who go on AFF (Australian Ford Forums) and they love the Ford Falcon, maybe its exactly what Ford America needs to revamp its model range and get people buying their cars over their competitors?

The Falcon model range consists of the:

Falcon XT (Inline 6)
Falcon XR6 (Inline 6)
Falcon XR6 Turbo (Inline 6 Turbo)
Falcon XR8 (Quadcam V8)
Falcon G6 (Inline 6)
Falcon G6E (Inline 6)
Falcon G6E Turbo (Inline 6 Turbo)

The Falcon XR6T and the G6ET are the fastest to 100km/h out of the Ford Falcon range (Not including Ford Performance Vehicle range). The "XR" range are the sports models, the "XT" is the base model (Povo pack here in Australia) which is aimed more at fleets and the "G6" is the base model of the Luxury range and the G6E and G6ET are the top end Luxury models.

and "ute" variants of them, besides the luxury G series.

Here is a few pictures of an XR6 Turbo Ford Falcon:

Here are its specifications:

Its capable of doing 0-100Km/h (62Mp/h) in 5.1 seconds, thats one fast family car right?

The review for it is here:

2008 Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo XR6T Road Test Review

It starts from $45,490 AUD ($27,748.90 USD). It is part of the sports range.

The luxury Falcon range, here is a G6E Turbo:

and some interior pictures (too large to put in image tags):

http://www.themotorreport.com.au/wp-...6et-tmr-18.jpg

The specifications:

This has exactly the same engine as the XR6 Turbo, so it is capable of a low 5 second 0-100Km/h time (62Mp/h).

The Review is located here:

2008 Ford Falcon G6E Turbo test drive review road test pricing and specifications

It starts at $54,990 AUD ($33,543.90 USD) and is the top spec luxury model.

This my first thread in the auto section for you, if you enjoy reading up on cars, you might want to read the reviews of these very fine Australian cars and give your opinion on them.

I like the look of the XR6. It sounds like a neat car and the price is right on it. It kinda reminds me of a car we have here but I can't put my finger on what it is right now. I actually like the green though lol Plus, I always have a place in my heart for anything turbo charged =)

We most likely will up until 2013 now, because the government has given Ford Australia a grant to make the Inline 6 engine meet Euro IV emissions standards, rather than getting the duratec V6 from the states, I'm sure our weak dollar had something to do with it as well. We've got a new CEO, Marin Burella who is an Aussie boy and decided to keep our Inline 6, saving roughly 1300 jobs. Maybe Marin Burella is Ford Australia's savior? All the other CEO's besides Geoff and Marin are wankers.

It is arguably the best Australian made car to date, if we could get an export program happening into America, it would be a win for everyone, Ford Australia gets the model sales it really needs and Ford America gets a new model in its lineup to get people buying their cars once again. We have a world class family car here and we should be exporting it to anyone and everyone.

Our problem is at the moment, the media seems hell bent on killing Ford Australia by biasing all their reviews and good coverage on Holden and their Commodore, Peter Pottinger from Carsguide is one of these people. The media killed Mitsubishi Australia and killed off the Mitsubishi 380/Magna and it was a great car, still gets rave reviews from second hand car buyers.
