Help with car's Ipod/aux jack
My car has an aux jack and I just bought a cord for it. I plugged my Ipod into it blah, blah, blah. It plays music, but it will only come out one side of the car! Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bum wire?

How many lines are on the head of the wire? One or two?
If it's just one then you bought a mono wire. As you can see there are 2 in the picture above. That's what you need the end to look like.

There is one head on each side of the wire. So I guess I have a mono. There is only one aux port in my car?

No I mean the black lines on the end. That picture shows two ends so it's confusing. I only posted the pic as an example of the two black lines on the end. You just need both ends to look like that. The one that goes into your iPod and the one that goes into the aux jack.

Hmmm. I'd say the wire SHOULD be fine then. I don't mean this as an insulting question but are you sure you have the wire plugged all the way in on both sides? If only one of those black lines is connecting then you'll get mono.
Otherwise I assume your normal radio plays out of both sides? Headphones on your iPod as well?

That's a good point. Try that jack for something else and see if it works.
Most computer speakers run off of those cords. Try it on your computer into some speakers or something.
You could try it on headphones if you buy a $1 part:

What about settings on the deck itself?
I know some decks come with a default setting for certain functions (ie: CD's, Radio, Aux, etc.) Maybe you can run through your settings and see if there are EQ options for the different functions. It may recognize the Aux line is active and so it switched the Equalizer to the Mono setting instead of whatever else.
