How to learn about automobile components

I'm interested in becoming an automotive technician. What's a good way to learn about the components inside an automoble. I want to learn how everything works.

Sarcasm: Vega: Let's see.... he acts like being a virgin is a crime and he doesn't want to watch porn to learn....

I say he's 14. Anyone else want in on this action?

Re: How to learn about automobile components

use the internet how it was originally meant to be, a sharing of knowledge and files. :D

otherwise find a shop you can get a jog to learn, or buy a car that you want to work on and do it. it leaves you with a ton of knowledge after you do your own cam swap or something else large like that. :)

I learned from experience. Buy an engine and get the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for the car it came out of. You can usually get the FSM off of ebay or somewhere like that. Then just go nuts and tear the engine apart. While most engines are very different from each other, they all share very similar components and it's a great way to learn.
