So, check this place out.

What happens here is interesting and you can really make out on these guys if you pay attention to gas prices. Say the price of gas is $3.50 and you expect it to go up. You take the money you have and buy the gas.. but instead you get credited for gallons on the card. So now you have, say, 100 gallons of gas on your card at $3.50 a gallon. Gas goes up to $4+ again and all of a sudden you're saving .50 a gallon for using the card instead of cash.

The catch is that there is a $40 monthly fee and a $2 fee to fill the card with your credit/debit card. If you drive a lot like I do (about 300 miles a week on slow days at work, 400+ on busier days) you would be able to make back the $40 very quickly and the recharge fee wouldn't be too huge of a deal.

I could imagine this being a huge thing for truckers and similar cross-country freight companies.

You can't use it for a fleet vehicle, only a privately owned one. It also doesn't work for diesel gas (or I think there's an extra charge).

I don't know that it'd cover the $40/month charge, then.

It's $40 a year. Not month.

Okay, my bad. It may actually be worth it, then, it'd suck to put like $150 at $3.50 and then gas drops again...

But then you'd hold out until the price goes up again. My bad on the typo.

No, that sounds awesome. It'd definitely work for me. I used to drive about 300 miles a week, until my company downsized and I got the boot. I just couldn't afford to do it if I wasn't being payed to do so. It sucks, because my fiance currently has to live about 100 miles away soon, for university. :( It sucks that gas prices are gonna keep us apart from each other. But if I get that card, I could probably swing it. Of course, gas is currently $4.56/gallon at the cheapest one near me. But, I think I could once I get a job again.

Though, I'd rather first get a vehicle that didn't gobble up gas as quickly as my current one...

In any case, thanks DaStevez, for the tip.

That's neat but if you can't use it for diesel then that is pretty stupid.

I get 17mpg on a good day should I get one? LOL
