Pontiac is No More

GM has announced that they will discontinue the Pontiac brand completely.

I'm glad I don't own one. It would be kind of annoying owning a car that was completely obsolete. Not that bad if it was newer but parts will obviously get harder to find in the future.

This actually annoys me because I like the pontiac brand and technically those parts are all GM parts anyway so it's not like you won't be able to get any of them fixed but I eventually wanted to get a GTO after this one but I guess not anymore.

See that's how I feel too. If I was planning on buying a Pontiac right now I would probably back off after hearing this news.

I am in the same place. I was looking at the GTO along with a few other cars but I know they were talking at one point about revamping it and I wanted to see what came about with that.

I have always been a Trans Am, Firebird girl, so I am a little disappointed, but I guess they have to do what is best for them, but GM doesn't make any other cars that I am interested in so I am sad to see Pontiac Go.

now would actually be a good time to buy a classic Pontiac

unfortunate to see all the job loses, but its about time the industry cut back on the different kinds of cars they crank out... why can't they just take the extra time to make 1 good one every 5 years instead of 10 different every year...oh right, greed

No if I had the money right this second I'd go buy one but I'm still paying off the one I currently have. Wouldn't bother me one iota if they stopped making them because I know the parts are still available due to it being GM.

Now see, I had an ex who had the new Firebirds and didn't like it at all.

Wow... and all this time I thought the bailouts we're supposed to fix everything. Sucks for GM...

You reap what you sow I guess...

We dont call em Pontiacs we call em Holdens.

Holden Monaro:

Pontiac GTO:

They're practically the same, in fact, they are the same car, made by the same company. Subtle difference being the grill at the front.

So Pontiac may have been cancelled, but Holdens still kicking, maybe they'll introduce it to the US. Who knows.

The name never changed, it was always there. The new Pontiac GTO came out after the Holden Monaro. And...they do make them over there.
