Babe Ruth
-He would travel better -Better equipement(shoes, bats ect.) -Scouting Reports on pitchers Now I know you can say that for other players like Ty Cobb, and others, but this is Babe Ruth were talking about. Also here's a little quote from the great Bambino when he retired. (if I knew this game was about hitting singles I would hit over 500) |

If you take into account his obsessive/compulsive and addictive personality, the Babe would have probably had aides and been addicted to crack if he lived in this era. Talented as he was, Ruth was a half drunk womanizer.

Yea he was and that's why I think he's the best player whoever lived, because a lot of is home runs he hit he did while being drunk, that's incredible. But just imagine he wasn't addicted to any drugs he just had passion for the game, but he still drank and ate junk food, do you think he'd be better?

It's so hard to try to say whether or not any player from that era would have been a better in ours. The game has changed significantly. The pitchers throw harder with more ungodly breaking stuff. The players are much more fine tuned athletes today with all the training technology available to them. Truth is, for all his splendor, Ruth propably wasn't the best hitter of his time. That title should belong to Josh Gibson who played in the Negro Leagues.

I heard of Josh Gibson a legendary figure, Josh Gibson was the greatest power hitter in black baseball, pounding out home runs with regularity despite playing most of his career in two of baseball's most cavernous ballparks: Forbes Field and Griffith Stadium. He utilized a fluid, compact swing to hit for both average and power, and tales of his mammoth home runs became legend. In recorded at-bats against big league pitching, Gibson batted .426. He died just three months before the integration of baseball in the major leagues. He hit close to 800 home runs in league and Independent Baseball during his 17-Year Career. Credited with having been Negro National Legue batting champion in 1936-38-42-45. Even with those amazing stats it's hard to say if he would of been better then Babe Ruth if he played in the majors.

I think it is safe to say that pitchers would have the same advantages....
Advanced scouting reports on hitters would help them walk Ruth.... more than Bonds gets the free pass... I also think, that todays ballparks would be more of a challenge for the Babe... to me it is a wash... unless of course Babe ended up on roids.... :) |

Yea I know that the pitchers back in the day were pretty bad compared to the pitchers we have now, and they would know how to pitch to Babe Ruth but I think he was so talented that he'd still have an amazing career even with the advancement of the game.

Yea but what Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez, David ortiz and Alex Rodriguez are currently doing in the league Babe Ruth was doing it better back in is day. These guys plays the game with ease but Babe Ruth played drunk half the time and look at is all time stats....need I say more. I am not taking anything away from those players I just named because there unbeleivable players I just think that Babe Ruth is best of all time.
