Who's to blame for the steroid era?

I was wondering who do you guys believe is at fault the most of the steroid era? The players themselves for not being able to resist the stuff, or Bud Selig not taking the initiative to ban the stuff early on. In my mind he clearly knew something about this in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Everybody is to blame. You can blame Bud Selig for not banning steroids before it became a problem. You can blame the players for taking the steroids. You can blame the media for glamorizing power hitters and home runs. And you can blame the fans for just wanting to be entertained.

Your right, everyone is too blame but I think most of this falls on Bud Selig and his staff. You look at good, successful leagues and it is always the commissioner who leads the way for change. I am not sure if Selig was ignoring steroids or if he did not know how big the problem actually was but I find it hard to believe that he had no idea any of this was going on.

I don't see anything wrong with glamorizing home runs, or wanting to be entertained. Both are legitimate parts of the game.

Selig is definitely at fault. Players who took illegal substances (against the law or against MLB's rules) are at fault. Trainers/etc who provided illegal substances are at fault (although depending on the circumstances, if the substance was against baseball rules but not illegal, they're not at fault. A trainer would be, but a pharmacist who's just giving a legal substance to a customer doesn't seem like he or she should be at fault).
