Yeah that computer is done.

I say to hook your laptop up to a regular computer screen.

check how much ram you have

have you lost any files?

back up everything before you can't.

I don't own a mac so I can't tell you how to do that.

Any mac users here know how to check the ram?

I looked this up so it might be right.

you're running osx right? if so which one?

The reason why I say to check your ram is because you either accidentally crushed some ram (major bummer) or this could tell you that your motherboard is damaged because it's not reading all of the ram.

normal RAM amounts include the following. (this is just what I've run into most commonly)

512mb
1024mb (1gb)
1.5 gb
2gb (2048mb)
2.5gb
3gb (3072mb)

if that's just a few mb off then I wouldn't worry about the ram.

and if you know how big your hard drive is supposed to be then also check how large the computer thinks it is.

i'm running OS X Leopard

^ that's what i have when looking where RAM should be.

^ that's what it should look like
------
and it says 55.7GB of storage space and it should be 60 - i'm not too worried about that.

Bottom line you will be paying $500 - $600 if its just the screen and the local place doesn't rip you off on hours at least to get that thing fixed. If I were you I would get the certified refurb from Amazon for $800.

PS I just got a macbook pro from Signature Mac and I love it but they are local to my area can't go with the white though had to get silver. The lower end white models have that glossy finish on the screen drives me nuts.

Any good luck getting back up and running.

alright so the ram looks good,(I'm not sure what all of those 0000 are but it's reading 512 mb of something, ram obviously) and don't worry about the hard drive they divide the number of mb in the drive by 1000 rather than 1024 which makes the number off so the hard drive is totally fine.

what about the processor?

it's on the same page as the ram, exactly how fast should your processor be? if it's off at all then it's a bad processor.

I still think the head of school is just trying to avoid a lawsuit by paying for it. if he comes through though, good for you! it sounds like that might be worth doing instead of trying to fix it, given the damage its already sustained.

good luck!

haha oh well.

From what it looks like you damaged your motherboard a lot, I'm surprised that it's still running at all after being run over.
