How do you spend your money?

Since I moved out I have found that so much of my money goes on bills and rent. Before I moved out I was certain I could afford to do it on my own for a while until my boyfriend moves in. So far it's been 2 months and I have to watch my money go the day after I get paid. It's quite painful to see.

Do you find you're left skint before the end of the month, or are you paid so well you don't have to worry?

When I used to live alone, bulk of my money went to rent/utilities and food. Then I realised I had to get a new (high paying) job to enjoy life.

This thread probably doesn't really apply to me that much since my parents support me financially in everything....ermm lol but I'll answer anyway.
Probably most of it goes on [whenever I actually have money] books, CDs, makeup, accesories, toiletries, magazines, gifts, stationary, credit, shoes, clothes, jewellery etc etc...

Do you have a job or do you have an allowance?

I've been considering moving out on my own but I'm not sure how much money I'm going to be making and if I'll be able to support myself (Without factoring in my girlfriend's job). I'll be making $11.27/hour with +15% for second/third shift, which is all I work and +10% on weekends. Working 40 hours (Weekdays 2nd shift, weekends off) I'd be making roughly $518 a week. Now, I'll be having at least one roommate (Girlfriend) and possibly another each with full time jobs. I'm not sure eactly what I should do.

I am not paid well enough not to worry(I am not paid), however with a little planning, discipline and constraints there is little need for me to worry. I do not work, I rely largely on grants and loans being a student and I find it easier to budget without an income than before when I had a regular salary(I worked for 10 years before returning education).

It took me a while to realize that it is a much better feeling to run with an allowance, so instead of living on this months wages to have enough of a buffer zone that this months wages pays the bills in 3 months time and this months bills are paid by monies I earnt 3 months ago. It is difficult to save enough to do this but is a satisfying and secure feeling once done, even though you earn exactly the same amount of money having a comfort zone makes all the difference to what you can afford, as long as you correct any discrepancies it also provides for a more flexible financial budget. The tougher you make it on oneself now the easier it gets in the future and the opposite is too true.

Well before I had to get a new car I had plenty of money and was paying to go to school part-time but now the car is sucking that amount up. It is almost paid for and I can go back to going to school and hopefully building up a nest egg. But for the most part most of my paycheck goes to rent/utilities/food, etc. My part time job pretty much pays for my car/car insurance and spending money which isn't a whole lot right now.

If you don't mind sharing, how much are you averaging weekly? I'm just trying to get an average here.

Most of my money goes to food actually. My mom stopped buying groceries for the house regularly, so when we have food in the house her and my brother usually eat it in a few days, so I'm left going to quick and easy places.

Or just eating at my work (which about 40% of the time is free) but with her not buying food for the house, I've had to skip some meals just to get gas in my car.
