Waste of Money

In todays economy there are a lot of things that people no longer do because they consider it a "waste of money". What would YOU consider a waste of money? What sort of things have you stopped doing? What have you cut down on?

Cigarettes are probably the biggest waste of money that come to mind first [uh, sure, that's definitely because of your signature but never mind ].

Me personally, I have cut down on buying stuff online. I don't really use my card much in shops so it's easy to overspend on the internet when all I have to do is type in a number. It's a waste of money because of shipping charges when I could probably get the same things from town.

Also, I don't buy as much snack food. In fact, I don't really buy it at all any more. Waste of money because it doesn't really fill you up and it's not good for you, and gone in about 1 minute.

I quit smoking and to be honest it was ore for money than for health. I also don't eat out half as often as I used to which again can only be healthier.

One surprising thing I have cut back on is toilet paper. I still use the same amount but now I buy cheap stuff and reckon I can save about 20 quid a month by doing so.

Big Brother reality show is a waste of money...especially for not so rich countries like Albania. i think this money should go somewhere else to help improve the economy, social life, cultural life and shouldn't be given to some crappy ignorant person just because he/she stays in a luxurious home doing and talking **** all day.

I think any sort of reality television could be considered a waste of money. Money is put into these shows when that same money could be going to something actually useful. Some would argue that entertainment is useful but I have never considered reality television entertainment anyway. If there has to be reality television I think it should be more focused towards, I dunno, reality? Maybe something along the lines of what it's like to try and find a job in todays society. Just a suggestion.

PS. The budget for these shows should be low. It doesn't cost a TON of money to follow someone around with a camera and see what their reality is like.

I've cut down on going out for food with friends and also going shopping with my friends for stuff I don't really need.

I've also cut down on going out drinking coz that takes alot of money out of me too.

Well, technically, anything we don't need can be considered a waste of money. Anyway, that isn't the point. I cut out smoking because it was costing me too much, both in actual cigarettes, and medicine for the many more times I got sick. I have cut down on eating out, buying junk food and going out drinking to the pub. But that isn't really anything to do with the economy, but more to do with my travel plans.

Viggenstien, I recently started rolling my own (Drum tobacco) and figured out that I pay about $8 for a 5- or 6-day supply of tobacco where the same amount of pre-fab cigarettes would cost me $15 to $25. Besides that the flavor is better and it's a great conversation starter when people see you rolling your own

Aside from that, I actually just did a blog post about this. We've started using rainwater collection to water our landscaping, my wife gives me haircuts at home, and a whole bunch of other small stuff that adds up.

I actually considered rolling my own cigarettes at one point. I'm in the process of getting money together to get the initial materials.
