Batman: The TV Series

I think most people on here who are super hero fans will have seen the Batman tv series starring Adam West & Burt Ward, in fact it is still being shown on ITV4 here in the UK. The show was camp, silly, propitious and featured most of the following at some stage:

But for all that it was not a bad series by any means, I am not convinced those involved ever meant it to be a serious series, it was fun and enjoyable and really that's what matters. The new Batman films have taken a very different very dark turn and I don't think this is a bad thing.

Would you want to see a tv show be brought back? Would you want it to be dark or light hearted? Do you think it would even work in this day and age?

The TV show was a classic and I'd hate to see it redone. It's nice that we can re-watch it when we want, but it shouldn't be done again.
It was really different to anything you get now, so to do the same style would no doubt flop. I think we're at a stage now where Movies are a lot more acceptable.

I remember watching it on Channel 4 (I think) back in the 90s at the weekend. It was one of my favourite things to watch growing up. It was definitely never meant to be taken seriously.

I don't think that Batman could be re-made to resemble the old one. I'm not sure the humour would translate well for modern expectations. If it was, it would probably focus on the darker side of Batman, similar to the films. But to be honest, as the films are in existence it could be there isn't room for Batman on the small screen.

The Batman TV series from the 60s is now playing here on MeTV. Let me tell you, when it came to the Joker, you can't resist laughing!

Never seen it, I have seen heaps of Batman animated series though. Both new and old. I've never seen that live-action one though.

I loved the Batman TV series with Adam West. It was silly but it was so well done in my opinion. It also had Julie Newmar playing Catwoman, and she is by far my favorite Catwoman ever. I would not want to see it redone.

The Adam West Batman series was...ridiculous. In the best way possible.

That particular Batman was a friggin genius.

No, it shouldn't be remade because that would mean no Adam West, no Julie Newmar, no Burt Ward, no Etta James. It reeks of the 60s flavor and it was never meant to be taken seriously. As far as I'm concerned, it should be left alone.

Actually, that DIDN'T start with the movies... Batman took a dark turn in the 90s with Batman: The Animated Series.

Well, Batman originally as the Dark Knight was very dark. Batman the TV series took a more campy tone and Bruce Wayne being a good two-shoes. As Bubbles said the Animated Series tried taking it back to that dark tone that was intended.

I wasn't a fan of the old TV show. But no, it shouldn't be remade. They need to stop doing that ****. I'd much rather they do a new animated series and put it on a network like Showtime or HBO, where they can do things they haven't been allowed to in the previous series.
