In the strictest of sense there is no such thing as a useless character it may be true they do not do much, but they help build the structural foundation of the show its self.

definitely chad, he got beat the **** up in SS and fought a filler character in HM, but i believe he has a bright future with his developing hollow powers

Yeah but Chad does some stuff like when they were going into Soul Society citadel (don't remember the name) he saved 2 of the people i agree I think he just needs more screen time.

I firmly believe that every character has a purpose in a story, but... I guess I have to admit that Chad, and even more so, Orohime haven't impressed me that much.
