This was Day 2 of my Utah trip, the first full day, and my plan was to climb Gobblers Knob, a 10,246 foot peak. Here's the 9 1/2 mile route on Google Earth. The red line was my ascent route, the yellow line was the descent.

When I started the hike at 8 in the morning it was so cold that I had to wear a jacket, hat, and gloves. But after about 20 minutes I was warm enough to take them off and stuff...

I was in Utah for a few days earlier this month, my second trip there this summer. I decided I'd use my blog to share some of the pictures since I don't use it for anything else.

My dad and I flew out there on the 5th. We did a short 1/2 mile hike that night to watch the sunset.

Here's the Google Earth view of the hike...

It was an easy hike and took only 15-20 minutes...

Plan B

Posted 05-22-2008 at 12:05 AM by Echoes
It's been a while since my last update. There's been a small change of plans for my hiking trip. My Pikes Peak hiking partner broke his ankle, so instead of going to Colorado I'll be headed to Utah for about five days.

I'll be doing a lot of hiking out there. My goal is to climb Mount Olympus. Here's a picture...

It's certainly no Pikes Peak in terms of elevation or length, but it will test my abilities...

It's been several days since my last update. I've still been exercising almost every day. I climbed the stairs on Tuesday. I was feeling really good and I finished 20 sets relatively easily. That's 2,500 stairs up, 2,500 down. My legs were tired by the end, but I never got out of breath, so my stamina is clearly improving (or so I thought, but I'll get to that in a minute).

My yoga workout on Wednesday night was good. It's getting easier for me.

Then I ran yesterday...

Mmmm, Rain!

I climbed stairs again on Saturday. I took my parents with me this time. They wanted to see what it was all about. They could only do about 5 or 6 sets and then they waited for me in the car. They're both really sore from it. I did 17 sets. I ran up the last set and my legs were completely dead when I got to the top. I could hardly walk back down to the car. I think I'm making good progress though, and I hope to get to 20 by this weekend.

I was supposed to run today, but it's been...
