Re: Any writers here?
I've written songs before, but nothing special.
That still qualifies as a writer, right?

Re: Any writers here?
I love to write and someday hope to have the opportunity to write a few books. I think writers have the best careers. I always dream of going up to a mountain cabin for the weekend, cranking up the wood burning stove, making some coffee and just writing into the wee hours of the night. And then, after all that is done, getting paid for it. It is definitely the life.

So far I've got two books:
DILLON AND THE VOICE OF ODIN which is available from both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com
DERRICK FERGUSON'S MOVIE REVIEW NOTEBOOK which is available from Lulu.com
If you want to get a sample of the stuff I write without having to shell out any shekels then check out DILLON AND THE ESCAPE FROM TOSEGIO at Cliffhanger Case Files Dillon and the Escape from Tosegio | Cliffhanger Case Files | Original Pulp Fiction Stories
I've got a whole bunch of Marvel/DC fan fiction scattered all over the place as well.

I LOVE to write. I used to write a lot of fan fiction for certain forums and fanfiction.net and even though I did get quite a lot of positive reviews I never thought it was that good. But last year I started trying to write a story and because I had written so many fanfics of a certain programme or film (mostly buffy, harry potter, roswell etc) I couldn't seem to steer away from those characters. But over last summer I started writing a few ideas down and I've been writing a story since then. It's going slowly and I'm alwyas changing it. I'm too afraid to show anyone but once it's done and at the moment I really do believe it's got something, it's going somwhere.
So yeah to naswer your question, yes I am a writer!

I write short stories, novellas and poetry. I have a short story and a research paper published under my real name, and I will probably have 3 more short stories published under my real name soon. And no, people don't get to know my real name, that is why I have a pen name. I am working on a longish novella under this pen name, and I write stories that I my parents (who I am still financially dependent on) wouldn't approve of from this pen name. I have yet to submit a story for publication under this pen name, but hope to in the near future.
I am not a novel writer by any means though. The short story to the novella works better for me. If I ever write a novel it will probably be a mosaic.

Yeah see I would be too worried what people thought of my stuff. Like some of the things i've written are maybe a bit too out there. I'd worry people wouldn't approve, get it, or just plain hate it! hehe

After giving up all hope of following the educational system any further, I've discovered I do enjoy writing. The problem is at my grand old age of 17, I find myself juggling a lot and rarely have time to knock off a chapter or anything substantial.. The longest thing I've ever written in just over 5 pages..
I'd love some constructive criticism, though I ask you to bear in mind it's writing just for fun rather than anything I deem publishable.

I wrote a 500 page story over the course of a year. Then my laptop stopped working and I had no backup of it. It was about a guy who was just a rouge dude traveling around the galaxy on his little rust bucket doing good deeds for people. Well his wife came down with a serious illness and had to be quarantined clear across the galaxy. Over the years he managed to save money for a new ship and got a few friends together to head over to the other side of the galaxy with a cure for the disease. She was unable to leave because of a war between the two major powers in the galaxy, and he was stuck in the middle of it trying to get to his wife. Things like parts going bad on his ship, having to crash land on a barren planet and surviving for days before being rescued by friendly forces. He dealt with things like pirate raids and sickness. He finally made it to the quarantine planet and got his wife in the middle of the war zone, and squeaked out without being detected... that’s as far as I got, never finished it and I was pretty pissed when my laptop stopped working

I have tried several times to write a book, I just can't get the opening chapter right. I feel that, if I could, the rest of it would come really easily.
Also, I tried writing a short stroy from the first person perspective, but it was a bit crap. Even so, I saved it on my memory pen just in case!

You treat me as an outsider. You call an outcast, brand me an exile, but I am not so different from your kind, you know. Some small part of me was once Human. Perhaps this is why I fight for you...
