It's strange how the bones of the book are so much easier than everything else, even the title was a piece of cake compared to the first paragraph.
75% of the time I start the story where I 'think' it should start only to find ten pages in that I've hit the actual beginning of the story. I toss out the previous ten pages and start from there.

I came up with what I think is a great idea for a book - unfortunatley this means reeeesearching stuff, bah. Its a psychological thriller (or something), whereas my normal attempts are generally of the fantasy genre, which seems to be easier to think up as I'm....attuned to that kind of stuff, you might say.

I am the only one of my kind. An oddity; unique. An abberation. Do you know what it's like? To be utterly alone? So alone...Is it any wonder I scream with rage and sorrow?

yeah fantasy is most certainly easier to write because you don't have to research anything at all because you are creating your own world.

This one right here is when I don't have to do it, which leaves nothing else but the one. No I don't think so. Not there. Yup. I have so many idea's whizzing through my head, I should be able to churn out a bunch of books I always have trouble starting them off though.

My head's so far in the fantasy-clouds, people are surprised I don't come back with a snow hat lol

well the way I like to start off any fantasy book that I write is by starting it off with a battle, a battle that has some type of significance to the entire book.

I have plenty of great ideas in a thread called "If you wrote a book", it's on this forum somewhere you can go read it if you'd like.

Hmm, interesting. I thought about starting with a confrontation of some sorts. Many of my plots involve a character based on Chaos (my alter ego) though I doubt very much I will call the character Chaos. The character is simply modelled on my alter-ego, i.e. the behaviour, actions, way of talking, etc. Perhaps Chaos is modelled on what I believe to be my finer points. I will you to ponder that...perhaps I will reveal more of Chaos in times to come

I want to be a writer, I guess. I've been writing things for my study- group, on philosophy and so on. Fiction with the philosophers, but nothing serious. All the stuff I think is serious, I don't really want to publish.

..I finally manned up and sent a column to a newspaper a while back, though. They printed it, and people laughed and got the point. So I lived on that for a while. ..And it does make you want to put more things in writing, when you get that kind of feedback. :)

hey man don't steal my ideas, you can do something similar but I will definitely know if I find a book published with my characters names in them and the plot is identical.

I really hope you weren't serious.
