Sometimes I get that itch, and simply can't sleep unless I put something down. I don't make any money off of it, though. I'm sure if I did, I would be banging my head against the wall trying to make myself write. I simply can't seem to do it when I really want to. Or, if I try to without that extra special 'feeling' behind it, it's very halting and haphazard.

Mostly, I write either long stories that never end, or I write short stories and poems. My longer stories tend to be of the fantasy type, while my short ones are more about life in general, experienced on the shoulder of a suffering individual, usually of teen age. In any case, fiction.

And the poetry? Usually, it always involves a play with words. I love making words do what they normally don't. But, that's just because I'm a bit of a logolept.

Most of the things I write, though, I never really go back an revise. Like, maybe I'll fix the syntax, but the plot never changes. When I write, it's like I'm putting to word as the story plays in my head; I never really see where it's going to all end up. So, that's probably why my 124 page story in verdana 10 pt (which is my longest so far) never seemed to end to me.

I'm a big time writer. In highschool i wrote a book called "this is called being a teenager" but i ended up disliking it so much i just trashed it.

i still write poetry a lot but its kind of weird. i used to write at least one poem a day and then i met my now ex boyfriend and when i started dating him i couldn't write anymore. i've finally gotten back into it but now i have different problems with writing. one time i was coming down marine drive (this road right along the columbia river with no barriars) after droping a friend off at work and i dont really remember it but when i got home i had written a new poem, while driving.

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

lol. ..I have this bad habit of replaying everything in my head, fixing sentences people say into better ones. ..Sort of embarrassing. "...What did you say?" -"Hm, about this argument you just interrupted?" -"No, when you said 'sinking on the skies of blue, reaching down' - where's my pen, sorry, I'm listening. really.."

I write, havent been able to do much in awhile. I wrote somethign shyty ont he 4th. it sucks but i never throw ANYTHING out. Ever. never know what it could be good for later, but when I write I tend not to think to hard on what I am writting mostly. I let my hands to do the writting, or typing as it may be and my soul do the thinking. 95% of what I write I stem from myself and my emotions, the other 5% is just shyt I think is cool.... >.>

I'm a writer. Non-fiction. The NEWS. Also an assignment manager, meaning I get to try to convince a whole buncha "kids" half my age to cover this story or that issue they couldn't care less about. But my main writing vehicle is our TV station's Website, a successful (1 mil page views a month!) beast that requires lots of feeding. I've had time to check this site out in part because it's been a slow news weekend (now watch, I'm jinxing myself and a crash or new wildfire or something will break out

Good luck, Dawn! The world of journalism is shaking, shuddering. Folks get their news free on the Web, and don't want to pay for it, and advertising can only cover so much, so ... it's going to be an interesting future. Citizen journalists can only do so much. It's like the T-shirt I've talked of making, "Information wants to be free, but I want a raise!";-/
