I don't really think it was a cop out. I liked the fact that she waited until after everything to say it.

It sticks it to the homophobes by saying, "HA! You're favorite headmaster is GAY. G-A-Y. And he's still the same person."

She could have said it towards the end of the craze, though. Like, while writing the 6th or 7th ones. by then, everyone already loved them.

But why towards the end? Didn't she say it at the end already?

It was good PR and it stuck it to the homophobes. :3

i agree, it stuck it to the homophobes

but i think it was a cop-out because by announcing it after the books were published and beloved, she could hide behind them.
i am glad she announced it. i just think her timing was a bit off.

But it wasn't even announced so much as it was mentioned. There wasn't some big press meeting just to say Dumbledore's gay. Someone asked about his love life so Rowling told them he's gay.

If it had come up earlier, the 'announcement' would have probably have been earlier

All it does is show how stupid we are as a collective country. Why do people give a crap if a make-believe person bones guys or gals? It's because we're a young nation who still can't fathom anything that isn't written in the bible.

Dumbledore is still the man and anyone who read those books with at least a bit of observational skill were probably not thrown off by this. I mean come on, Dumbledore is a tab bit fruity, we all knew that much. Who cares if he's gay? Does that mean all his time spent with Harry was a signal that he was trying to "corrupt" him? No and anyone who thinks like that, please do us all a favor and go swim in a wood-chipper.

I haven't heard this yet, though I lolled when I read "Dumbledore is gay!?"

Its probably just a publicity stunt, but either way I no longer care - I've read the series (some of the books more than once), and I despise the films, especially the f***ing idiot who plays Harry Potter, Daniel Whatshisface. Give me 5 minutes in a dark room with him and I'd reduce him to a quivering lump of sobbing meat.

I literally despise him

I am the only one of my kind. An oddity; unique. An abberation. Do you know what it's like? To be utterly alone? So alone...Is it any wonder I scream with rage and sorrow?
