Re: Ever try to write down a dream you had?
I've tried to write down dreams I've had, however for myself it's exceptionally difficult. My dreams tend to be very sensory, and it's hard to describe that with text.
That, and I forget important details of dreams almost instantly.

Re: Ever try to write down a dream you had?
I'm rather dissappointed to say my dreams never have any kind of... anything. Last one I had that had any kind of clarity, I murdered my brother... hmmm... yeah... *anyone a shrink here? lol Mine never really make sense, it's just random crap... kinda blows.

I have dreams in exquisite detail that I remember for a long time. I often write stories that in some way started as dreams... I get waking dreams sometimes too. And those can be really irritating (this is not the same as day dreaming...). I often record dreams with some notes for story ideas...
Then there was the time that I wrote a story in my sleep... That was weird. I went to bed, and my comp was off. Wake up and the comp is on... There is a document typed on it... I wrote it in my sleep... And it closely resembled a dream that I had had...

My dreaming skills far exceed my writing skills. Every time I tried to put a dream onto paper, it comes out all wrong. Things are never descriptive enough, emotional enough, etc.

Well, I tried once. But I failed miserably. It sucked, too, because it was a dream that could have been a really good story if I'd been able to write it out.

I always thought it was amusing how you could actually experience a dream "slipping away". I would recall my dream and it would slowly drift out of my grasp.
So yeah, I never have a real chance to write any down. I still have a few dedicated to memory though.

I try to keep a dream journal, but I usually oversleep and just don't have time to write my dreams down in the morning. Sometimes I'll try to write them down later in the day, but will often forget the details. I did find that the more I wrote about my dreams, the more vivid they became and the more details I would remember. Talking to people about the dreams I had that night had the same effect.
Some of those crazy dreams really would make fantastic stories. I bet a lot of our best creative ideas come to us while we are sleeping.

Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" was actually derived from a dream. She then noted it down and "Frankenstein" was written.
I either always forget them when I wake up, or they're too embarrassing or whatever to write down; like, I couldn't risk anyone reading them. I mean, last night I dreamt I was tied to a bomb. Last week I dreamt that I killed myself.
I have kinda morbid dreams =/

My dreams are so crazy lately that I wouldn't be able to write them down. I have several dreams in one. I am a certain place one minute and the next I am somewhere completely different in a whole new scenario. I also wake up a lot during the night so I never know when I'm awake and when I'm dreaming anymore.

Oh I have a lot of those dreams. If you think about it when you wake up you'll remember most of it. Most of the time I can write everything down, but when I get to almost finishing and where I want toelaborate on something I loose it and then S***. But if you list the events it's much easier to come back once your done and give them more detail.
