Uncle Toms cabin is just killing me, I'm half way through and the book is just terrible, it's 400 pages of pure mental numbness,

HAHAHAHA Uncle Toms Cabin is about as fun as driving blunt #4 pencils through my eyelids.

Also I remember "Number The Stars" that was one of the few books I ever fell asleep in class to. Man I got in trouble for that, my English teacher at the time was a suicidal Jewish lady in her late 20's. Fresh out of College and ready to mold the feeble young minds of her high school students.

No one before me had ever offended her in such a way in a school setting lmao I remember she called me everything short of the anti-christ in the office after class that day.

Dingley Falls by Michael Malone

To Kill A Mockingbird was the most excruciating book I have ever had the displeasure of reading! Oh, and Fountainhead was awful too!

I'm actually scouring the internet (mostly ebay) for the oldest available english version of the bible (under 100 bucks) that I can find. Looking to read it again, I've skimmed the hotel versions of the King James New Testament but am interested in finding one that hasnt been plagued by a million translations and updates.

My thoughts are, the older the publishing date the less amount of times the particular version has been rewritten. I've got my eye currently on a leather bound one from 1712 for about 60 bucks plus some more on shipping. I'm not committed yett, but I think if anything it'll be neat to say I have near 300 year old book in my collection.

Sorta hoping it'll be like a Brothers Grimm type deal, Real flat out spitting some fire and brimstone style work rather than the dollar store bibles printed in a near politically correct fashion now a days.

The books have so many extra details and plots that the movies do not have, the movies definitely make the books easier to understand though, I read all 3 of them before ever watching the movies and oh man I had no clue what was happening sometimes.

I agree, I didn't really like the whole beginning part of the fellowship where it just went on for pages and pages describing Bilbo's birthday party, I'll admit it, I skipped out of that part because I couldn't stand it, however I read all of the other parts of each book and I thought that it was awesome.
