Northen Lights/Golden Compass

Anyone read the book? Over here i know the books called northen lights. but i think in America they changed it to the golden compass, as the films about to be released soon and its called the golden compass.
I think it is a good book, as is the other books in that series. (The subtle knife, and the Amber Spyglass.

Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe i'll have another beer.

Re: Northen Lights/Golden Compass

I just made a thread about the movie, so check it out.

The books were really good when I first read them years and years ago, and stay good as time has passed. I love how they take the tried and true concept of parallel universes and put an entirely original spin on it... exciting adventure that never ceases to keep you wanting to find out what happens next, character development, and a truly epic plot.

They tell me this will work one day

I'm actually reading The Golden Compass now. I've never read it before and I'm not very far, but it's okay... I'm hoping that it gets better as I go.

The books are great. The movie seemed a little rushed and too short to explain the weird universe.

I read the book many years ago and thought it was fantastic. Just before I went to the film I re-read it and was quite disappointed with the film itself! I agree with Corona and I think it was quite rushed.... but I suppose they did their best with it! I am sort of biased I guess, being the book worm that I am I'm always gonna prefer a book over the film!

I finished the first two books and I'm half way through the third.

Amazing. I've never read a book where someone actually tries to kill God. Just, WOW. It's so interesting!
