Turns out a few of the books I ordered from Oakeshott are oriented towards the "younger" crowed so that's out o_O.

I'm about to start reading the "Xanth" novels again by Piers Anthony. I loved them the first time through, and read the first 4 or so really quickly. I stopped after the beginning of "Night Mare." This time I'm hoping to read them all; he's a very creative author with his use of puns, and creates his own worlds really well.

I also just bought another Piers Anthony novel. I think it's called "On a Pale Horse." It's a series of novels about people who take over the duties/powers of Death, Time, Fate, etc. and how God and the devil are vying for power over these people. Something like that, lol.

Sound's like my kind of bag! I love supernatural type stuff, especially Demons and Angels stuff. Proper Angels, I mean, obviously what the Bible thinks are Angels are completely irrelevant and wrong.

Anywayz, Unity, have you ever tried Terry Brooks? He's got a great series of that kind of stuff, in case you like that stuff and ever happen across it. It's called the Word and the Void series.

Here's a tidbit of info on the series:

"The constant battle between the Word and the Void has raged for millennia, one side never able to permanently tip the balance in its favor over the other. It is an invisible war waged in contemporary America and all over the world, the Knights of the Word battling the destructive efforts of the Void's demons. When Nest Freemark, child of a legacy of magic, is pulled into the struggle, she learns she may hold the key to the outcome of the entire war. As the forces of good and evil swarm into her hometown of Hopewell, Illinois, the fate of the future world hangs on the mysteries that surround Nest and her family history.
The three novels in the Word and the Void trilogy are centered around Nest in three different moments of her life. It is a beautifully written and darkly elegant story about how the destruction of civilization won't come at the drop of a nuclear bomb but the seeds of which are already planted in how we poorly interact with people daily."

If you like Piers Anthony try his BATTLE CIRCLE trilogy and his OF MAN AND MANTA trilogy. I recommend both highly. The INCARNATIONS OF IMMORTALITY series is his best I think. "On A Pale Horse" is extremely imaginative as Anthony describes how Death goes about his work.

I'm not such a fan of his XANTH novels, tho. Maybe I need to give them another read as it's been a while but the two or three I did read didn't really do much for me.

I just finished "A Spell for Chameleon" last night and started "The Source of Magic" today. Xanth aren't the best fantasy novels ever, but I have a personal like for them. Very imaginitive stuff. I read several of them when I was probably 12-14, but I'm catching all sorts of puns and references that I wouldn't have known back then.

Didn't Terry Brooks write the "Sword of Shannara" series?

Yes! Have you read any of the Shannara books? I have pretty much the entire series; Terry Brooks is one of my favourite authors.

I haven't read them...I may have tried when I was too young. I recently saw the Shannara books in one volume; might pick it up someday!

I finished "The Source of Magic" last night. Since the focus shifts from the character of Bink to his son Dor in the next book, I'm taking a break from Xanth to read the first book in the "Incarnations of Immortality" series.

I haven't read in a long time, and lately I've been reading fantasy like crazy instead of playing video games, for the most part. It feels awesome. :)
