Going to catch flak for this, but it's Ayn Rand.

Grisham's mine, too, but I don't read them in order. I get them when I can find them at Goodwill for $2 for hardcovers. What was the last one?

i'm a huge fan of used book stores. I'll keep my copies of 1984 and The 21 Balloons forever.

George Orwell
Ray Bradbury
I also like a good Michael Crichton book, but some just weren't all that fun.

oh and adri, what poems by AE Housman do you recommend? Because "to an athlete dying young" is my favorite.

i think i sent you a message asking the same thing but, since the topic is here...

James Patterson by far. Though Garth Nix is a close second.

Ditto - My favourites are Misery, The Body, Carrie and The Shining. He is a brilliant writer.

.. Jens Bjørneboe (for social commentary and story composition), Henrik Ibsen (poems, epics.. his plays have been translated to loads of languages, and they are still running frequently around the world in different setups), Knut Hamsun (well- described inner life of characters), Tolkien, Douglas Adams - and Terry Pratchett. Nietzsche is high up there. And Vonnegut. :)
