Re: Brass Items...

If you have a post office near by they can weigh them for you ahead of time so you can determine shipping cost... it's an easy way to get some info about the weight... I did it before...

Re: Brass Items...

The plates are nice... from lot i, j, k, L,

The thing in lot O is that cherry wood for the handle?

Lot q the candle holder looks old...

lot T looks like some sort of armour... neat...

Re: Brass Items...

I really dont know. There are three items there with wooden handles. I've been researching a bit on brass and how to tell if its old, new, antique... havent done any research on the actual wood though. I just listed some copper pieces that were in with this lot. It was alot easier because they were so simple and copper is pretty much copper lol

Lot T is a necklace that was in the stash :D My daughter wants to keep it and I keep tellin her it all has to go or Mommy will have to go cause Daddy dont want this stuff lol

Re: Brass Items...

It has some detailed etching on it and appears to be solid brass. I cleaned a small portion of it on scratch on the back to see if maybe it had been painted. Still looks and feels like brass :)

Re: Brass Items...

Haven`t had time to look at all yet , But in lot O , the one on the left is a chocolate pot(collectable, and was for cocoa) and should be marked. (a few weren`t) the one on the right looks like it came from a fondue set !! Probably 60`s or 70`s vintage. Will look at more later !! Still interested about the thing that looks like a light of some sort !!!

I do not think the necklace would have been silver with a brass overlay, since silver is a softer metal. But pot metal was commonly used under brass !! Silver was used however, over brass & sometimes etched through to give the look of both metals in jewelry.

Re: Brass Items...

The very round thing in the back is a platter.. unless you mean the cage looking thingie here in the lower right corner: http://bellsouthpwp.net/b/k/bkeebler/lots.JPG

It does look like it belongs on top of maybe a candle or a kerosene lamp... the bottom piece doesnt appear to be here. My husband and I pretty much matched up everything that we could.
