With all the cool auctions for comics & collectibles you really need to do your homework before you buy. If you suspect a fake let us know. I have one of the biggest databases of toys, comic books, movie memorabilia, and collectibles. Don’t be fooled by fakes or black market ripoffs.

I got a Spiderman #1 comic book. Not sure of the title, but it has the fantastic four in it.

Unfortunately, turned out to be a reprint. :(

Hold on to your reprint. Depending on publishing company and what the reprint # is it might be worth money. :D :D

AF- you should talk with Tom about it. He is a major comic book collector and can give you an idea of what different titles will run.

Always, Always rember to get a C.O.A when you are buying any signed comicbook, statue, vintage toys, and especially when you buy movie & TV props.
The C.O.A guarantees the items are the real deal.
And rember to do your homework before you buy. There a lot of unscrupulous dealers out there who will take advantage of the under informed..

That's very true. My dad collects books on trains, which can be worth a lot of money. Some of his originals were only printed in maybe 100 or 500 each, but they came back five years later and printed hundreds or even thousands more, making the true originals worth big money. The reprints are basically only worth the paper and materials they're printed on, but a lot of dealers and guys at trade shows will try to sell reprints to you for hundreds of dollars saying that they only printed a few hundred copies.

Ok I have seen allot of comic book scams going on lately. Remember if buying over the internet have the seller send you pics of the front and back cover, and also pics of the first 2 pages. (You want high resolution scans if you can get them)
Look over the pages carefully. Make sure that this is the book you want.

Save all the pics to compare with when your comic does arrive. If not the same you have proof of wrong doing (pics) and it is much easier to get your money back, and or file a complaint. Also try to get the seller to include a written guarantee of authenticity. (Informal warranty) this will help to protect you from fraud.

Remember if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. An informed buyer is a happy buyer. Till next time...................... :warp:

Tis the season for the black market fa la la la la la la la la la...

With the season what it is right now you really have to be carefull with you holiday collectible purchases.

Right now there a lot of unreputible sellers selling counterfit or knockoffs of the original 80's toys like Transformers, M.A.S.K and a few more..

Be sure to check the toy against price guides, Pictures on the net or other ref sources before you buy..Make sure to look for the manufactures mark ie "Hasbro, Playmates or others"
The real toys will have a stamp on them as to where the "BM" ones will not.

I would be real carefull on purchaseing any toys out of hong kong or Tialand.!!
They have been flood the collectible Toy market with fakes and knockoffs..

Remember most toy collectible can be found in many price guide " Lees, Toyfare"
