BCS shakeup...USC loses

Anybody watch that game last night? Oregon St beat USC last night 27-21 in a thrilling game from start to finish.

I was convinced USC was going to run the table but that just didnt happen.

ARe their National Championship hopes over?

I watched most of the game. I figured USC would roll through their schedule without a problem, but honestly their poor performances don't really surprise me anymore.

First of all, I said a couple weeks ago that I think Ohio State made them look WAY better than they really are. Everybody was ready to crown USC national champs after that game, but I knew the blowout had just as much to do with Ohio State's ineptness as it did USC's greatness. The Buckeyes were uninspired and were just out-coached by a wide margin.

Second, USC always gets up for the big games, and sleepwalks through the games you expect them to win by 30. Seems to happen to them every year. They lost to 40 point underdog Stanford at home last year.

They're far from over. If there's one good thing about this loss for USC it's that it was in the 3rd game of the season. They have 9 more, so there's still a lot of football to be played. There will be more major upsets of the top teams, so USC will climb back near the top if they win out. The question is, would they get into the title game over a 1-loss Big XII or SEC team?

I think alot depends on the strength of the schedule. A team like Mizzou, for example, has to play Kansas, at Texas, at Nebraska, but doesnt play Oklahoma. I 'll have to see what their schedule looks like. If those two teams win their divisions then they'll meet in the Big 12 Championship game and something has to give. The fact they play that game will have another huge effect on the national championship.

I do agree its far from over for USC. They will probably need a couple teams to lose but a divisional game on the road is always tough.

i wish this meant it was over. i actually didnt see the game but front page of the paper this morning saw it and flipped a nut. forcasted to win by 25 points usc failed to impress against osu. makes me so mad cause i was supposed to go to the game :(

it's happened only three times ever that osu beat usc. this year 27-21, 2006 33-31, and in 1967 3-0.

after this and biffles second win im flying high

A 1-loss Big 12 team would have gone through a much tougher schedule than USC. Unfortunately USC would probably get into the title game because of who they are and because they lost first. I hate how the rankings work.

USC still has a chance for a championship. It depends on how far down they fall and how well they do for the rest of the season. If only it was a different OSU that could beat USC...
