I think it's worth mentioning that a movie's rating has less to do with what is actually in the movie than making extra bucks. If a movie is PG-13 then more people generally go to see it with their families than an R rated movies. Directors are continually under pressure by the studios to deliver PG-13 rated movies.

Yeah, I think the studios wanted Nolan to keep the movie PG-13 for extra money. Like I said before if it's getting to the point where you need to have violent scenes but the continuity is awkward, I say **** it.

It's better now because at least we've got DVDs and more and more directors are releasing Director's Cut versions of their movies so that those of us who care can see the movies the way they were originally meant to be seen.

Although I have to admit that it grinds my grits that the studio is getting me to pay twice: once to see the movie they want me to see and again to see the movie I should have seen in the first place. Especially if the so-called Director's Cut version only has a few scenes that wouldn't have made all that much difference in the theatrical version.

Good review, DL. I just saw this the other weekend so I was late in opening your thread (didn't want spoilers before).

We had a kid in the theatre when I watched. She kept on asking her parents in a loud voice "Batman? Batman?" whenever Batman's face isn't on the screen. She shut up after a few minutes. Probably got scared by Joker.

Glad you enjoyed the review and yeah, I still maintain my firm belief that parents shouldn't take children younger than 12 to see THE DARK KNIGHT. This is a superhero movie made for adults, not kids. Buy them the DVD of the 1969 BATMAN instead.
