OK, I'll give you that. The darkness feel was there, but let's face it they did deaden what Spawn really was: A killer. He killed what... 1 person in the whole movie? Even Todd McFarlane, I believe, didn't really like the end result.

That's what happens when you listen to the execute who says "It'll reach a broader audience if it is PG-13" which is just another way of saying "Cha-CHING cash cow". I don't know how much control McFarlane had in the situation, but a Rated-R limit probably would have made it much more authentic in that sense. Still that was probably the only one of the comic book movies that felt like I was watching the comic book over watching a movie if that makes sense. If it had more bloody murder, it would probably be in my all time favorites list.

I'm not really sure if that qualifies as a good thing . Not sure how the rest of the movie holds up with the comics. For me it was nothing too special. Not the biggest fan of Reeves to begin with so it was an automatic downgrade for me.

I might have to add "Iron Man" to my list. Not quite sure yet... I need to see it again.
