I heard that Nolan has already mentioned the Riddler as a possible villain for the next movie.

I also know from past Nolan interviews that they were trying to get Johnny Depp initially to play the Joker. I could see him working out even better as the Riddler so who knows.

I'm sure it's a thought that has crossed their minds.

oh, well i like the idea of depp being the riddler, i cant really picture him as a joker though.

thats another thing, what are they gonna do when they do introduce the joker again?(that is, if they do bring him back which i sure they will) they will need a new actor, and Ledgers shoes will be mighty big ones to fill.

I don't think they need to bring the Joker back. Chances are the next movie (3rd) will be the last.

Christian Bale only wants to do one more and that's ONLY if Nolan is the director. I say they get Depp to do the Riddler and we have ourselves a grand finale. Depp as the Riddler is the only thing I can think of that would make 3 awesome and maybe even better than 2.

They have a good thing going here with each film being better than the last. Saving Depp for last would be perfect. Depp as the Riddler would be amazing.

Think of a Depp/Riddler as en evil Willy Wanka without the high voice. I'm sure he could think of another voice that would do the trick.

Now that I think about it the grungier dark joker might not have looked right as Johnny Depp. The Riddler is more clean cut and polished and Depp could play him very well.

Jim Carrey did an amazing Riddler, I believe that if he was up for it then they should make him the riddler once again. Depp would make a good riddler as well in my opinion but he wouldn't be better then Carrey. Carrey can do so many different faces and talk so many different ways that he's the perfect actor to play the riddler. So if The Riddler does come back, ask Carrey first if he's interested.

I don't want to see Depp as the Riddler. Then again, I don't understand the hype surrounding Depp. But if they do decide to go with the Riddler, I think they should go with someone educated and stoic that can pull off the psychological killer persona. Like a young Anthony Hopkins. I'm not even sure who I'd like it to be.

But I don't think they should redo the Penguin, either. DeVito did it perfectly. I know I really liked Nicholson as the Joker and that Ledger owned him on it, I really think DeVito was the perfect fit for Penguin.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new Mr.Freeze, either. They'd really have to look hard to find someone like in the cartoon series from the 90's. That Freeze was awesome. Schwarretzzenegger ****ed Freeze all up.

Carrey might be TOO comical for the part though. The newer Batman movies have been darker and more serious. I don't know how Jim Carrey would work in the mix.

It doesn't have to be Depp either. I do think the Riddler would be a good choice though as long as they found somebody to deliver a knock out performance.

The Riddler is supposed to be a very smart person who originally goes to Wayne Enterprises and tries to sell a mind contorlling drug of some sort that he came up with. The person to play him would need to be able to come across as very educated and very mathmatical. Somebody who can play complex games (riddles) with people.

Some other options that I think could work well:

Sean Bean: Maybe just maybe. He's played some twisted bad guys before and he can come across as very educated and intelligent in his roles as well. He's also the man.

Edward Norton: Again, maybe. He did just play Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk so he might have ruined his chances at being in any other superhero movies for a while. He is amazing though and plays bad guys well.

Matt Damon: Could work. He's very talented as an actor. This role would challenge him a bit but he could pull it off. He also has the stunt work down from doing he Bourne movies.

Adrien Brody: Could work. I haven't seen him play a bad guy yet but I'm sure he could. He has a look that could work well for the Riddler and also isn't TOO popular as to overshadow some of the other actors. Might be a good pick in that sense.

Johnny Depp:
I'm putting Depp on this list just because I know he could pull it off. I've seen a ton of his movies and he can be a character actor when he needs to. He could make the Riddler character a normal person in one scene and a mind twisting maniac in another. He'd be my #1 choice for the Riddler if they use Riddler in the next Batman.

Now if they use another villain instead of the Riddler then I'm sure most of my picks won't apply but maybe. Some of them might even work better for another villain. Who knows.

I think Sean Bean would work pretty well eh is a stoic character, comes off as smart, and doesn't afraid of anything.

I can totally see it.

Exactly. He's underrated unfortunately and probably won't even be considered. He's among my top favorite actors though and has been since he was in GoldenEye.
