Sure, if they find someone else who fits the bill, I'd be just as happy. But just because Depp does that sort of character a lot, doesn't mean he shouldn't do it again.

No, but that means the Riddler would be boring. Everyone can probably name at least three characters Depp has played that are slightly off their rockers. It would be as if they brought in Arnold to play the action hero in three new films. It would be boring.

I've been saying Johnny Depp is overrated and I wouldn't like seeing him as Riddler. Sure, he could play Riddler, but would he be the best? There has to be someone in the woodwork.

I don't think just because Depp's done crazy characters before, that it means any future crazy characters will automatically be boring.
And Arnold's probably not the best comparison, since his acting skills are a bit shaky.

No, he's a perfect comparison. Arnold did action movies and whenever an action star was needed, he was asked to play the role. Depp has played several characters (Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, Jack Sparrow, Sweeny Todd) who have been off their rockers and it's boring seeing him get all those parts. Depp would be boring because we've seen him be crazy before.

Sure, but seeing a good actor play similar roles is different than seeing a mediocre actor do similar roles.
Personally, I'd love to see Depp as the Riddler (although I haven't seen as much of Depp's work as many other people). But I understand your viewpoint, but I don't think it's really that big of a deal for me.

Well, if you had seen most of his work, an announcement of him playing the Riddler would just be "meh".

I hear Penguin is going to be in the next one too, who do you think could play him?
Perhaps Depp can come up with a new type of crazy, it's obviously gotta be darker than Sweeny Todd and yet be hilarious like Jack Sparrow-he might surprise you. If he is playing The Riddler i'd love to see how different he does it from Jim Carrey.

Did you even see The Dark Knight? Two Face is dead! Eckhart said so, too!
