It seems to me that it's good to be known as the actor who played a very popular character in a very popular movie series. Look at Hugh Jackman. He's not stuck as Wolverine. He did very well in the Prestige after playing in the X-Men movies.
I don't think Tobey McGuire is in danger of being type cast anytime soon. I mean, even Jason Alexander (George on Seinfeld for those under a rock) has been in movies after Seinfeld ended and he's been able to do very well with new roles.

I guess you haven't heard that due to the phenomenal success of "Transformers" Tobey Maguire is seriously considering jumping ship to a new movie franchise: ROBOTECH to be produced through his own production company.
Much as people would like to believe that these people act in these movies because they love the characters that is often not the case. They're in it because they can make a whole lot of money, finance a terrific lifestyle and take a couple of years off so that they don't have to work.

I could see a Kraven and Lizard combo working pretty well. Kraven's gimmick was being the stereotypical big game hunter seeking a challenge because hunting animals had gotten boring. If the movie uses Lizard, then Kraven could come along hunting him. That could lead to some good action scenes where Spidey is trying to save/cure the Lizard while both villains are fighting Spidey and each other.

I love this plot line. Would absolutely work if made correctly.

I am so done with spiderman after the last one the only way they would get me to go see this is if they completely revamped it (kind of like what they did with batman begins)

I would have to agree. I love the series up to 3. They would really have to redeem themselves with the writing for the next movie because they so disappointed me with Venom and I was waiting to see Venom on the Big Screen since the first one was released. Not happy.

I think they should wait and redo the concept of the movie..They realy humped the bunk on the last 2..
They need to go back to the drawing board on spider man 4 movie ideas and concepts..
The only logical way they can do a 4 movie is if they introduce Carnage, He came after venom, you can even see carnage in Spidey 3.
I realy hope that they will hold off on this movie, they need to listen to the fans and fix all the mistakes and screw ups..I still want an apology for "Eric form that 70's show" being Brock/Venom...Come on! Venom was huge and so was Eddy Brock.
They also need to get rid of the Ambercrombie and Finch crap, you know the 5 minute spot where Pete is strutting around town..
It will take alot to fix the damage that 2 and 3 did to the Spider-Man story line..

Spider-man 3 was a good movie I have to say, but it wasn't as full of awesome as the second one and there was a lot of stuff they could've added in the movie. In fact I was watching clips of the 90s Spider-man cartoon yesterday about the, yeah you guessed it, Venom arc. Here's what they could've done:
Number one, put more parts of Peter being an assh*le in the movie.
Number two, extra development between when the symbiote attaches to Brock because it felt like they only spent 20 minutes with him like that and Venom has to be the scariest, awesomest villain in the Spider-man universe.

Thank you for doing the same thing that I did. I actually watched the animated series before I watched the movie. You can imagine how much of a disappointment that was to me. lol

I was actually kind of excited when I heared that he was playing Venom. It wasn't topher I had a problem with, I could deal with him not being a total muscle bag. I think the problem with the movie version of Venom was that he was just badly written. Because of time factors his reasons for revenge seemed really trivial. You got me fired, you die.... lame.

I really liked Spider-man 2. If anything it did the battle within a lot more appropriately than spider-man 3 and it didn't even have the symbiote. I really liked the way Peter had to face the choice to do good or just live a life of his own. Once that issue had been resolved it seemed a bit worn out when the symbiote brings it all up again.

It really suprises me how a cartoon was able to make Peter seem like more of a villain than a live action film. The cartoon had rediculous restrictions on it whereas the film could have really played around with his dark side. The whole symbiote concept was wasted, so much so that bringing Carnage into it now is probably going to suck even harder.
