Absolutely amazing. I've seen it in the cinema 3 times now and it's definitely in my top 3 movies. There were so many parts of the film that I loved. In particular I loved it when Batman was on the bike and made the Joker's lorry flip over. How cool were the effects?
The Joker's laugh was awesome - it suits his character perfectly.
One thing that completely shocked me is that each time I went to see it, there were always a few people that walked out of the cinema part way through. Why on earth would someone leave?
I want to watch it again!!

I still don't know how to feel about Gordon's fake death (of course I'm glad he's alive, but there's something in that storyline that bugged me). Maybe watching it another time will make it less "mkay moment" for me.

Was it that how did he make sure he got hit by a bullet? unless he had one of his own team aiming at him? or did he just act as if hed been hit. There are some bits of plot that don't completely gel together. Like how the Joker knew hed get to tell batman about harvey and rachel after "letting himself get caught". What if batman hadn't gone to him? He does a lot of pre planning for someone who is by his own admission "not a schemer" lol. It's a great film don't get me wrong, I'm just nit picking really that some things weren't as clear as they could have been.

I was discussing Heath Ledger as an Oscar candidate with my friends, and it was brought up that Aaron Eckhart's role was quite possibly more worthy. The argument was that both did a really good job, but Eckhart had the harder role, because he had such a sudden change. He had to be a convincing "white knight", then play a convincing psychopath, BUT the psychopath had to still have specific similarities to who he had been before.
What do you think?

I think they're both worthy. Both of them were amazing in the movie. The characters were very different and were played by two people that seemed to understand their character.

As far as an Oscar for Heath Ledger...I'd much rather see The Academy Award go to an actor who's still living to appreciate it.

I know what you mean and it is a great shame he wouldn't be around to pick it up, should he win, but the award's more about our appreciation of them than their appreciation of the award, imo. A mark of recognition for an exceptional performance and to focus our attention on that performance one more time. I'm sure his family and loved ones would appreciate the gesture and prestige just as much any one else who'd get their hands on it. And I know I wouldn't want to pick up the award if I did not truly believe that mine was the outstanding performance of the period. Just my $0.02!
Exceptional film but it is still of the action genre and they're pretty easy to nitpick as a rule.

Just wanted to inform you guys that Dark Knight has made 512 million dollars since it opened. That's pretty incredible.

Just think of what it might have made if the economy wasn't in the toilet.

Quote from Michael Caine at the Toronto Film Festival on MTV.com:
Quote:
“When Christopher [Nolan] said we were going to do ‘The Dark Knight’ next, I didn’t what that meant in Batman terms,” related Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “I said, ‘What’s the story?’ and he said The Joker. I said, ‘Oh, s–t! How are you going to top Jack [Nicholson]?’ He said, ‘Well, I’ve cast Heath Ledger. And I went ‘Ha! I couldn’t top Jack, but if anyone could, maybe Heath could.’ And he did.
“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’” [Laughs]
While rumors of Depp and Hoffman have been hot topics around the upcoming film for quite some time, this is the first instance of one of the film’s stars speaking about the news, as well as Caine citing an albeit unnamed WB executive.
