Just read my blog. I was absolutely amazed by the Joker. To me he stole the movie, and it didn't bother me at all. Was it just me or did anyone else feel bad when the boats didn't explode? I mean his face was...perfect. I can't even tell you how great Ledger did. This had to have been one of the best acted movies I have ever seen. Like I said in my blog, it didn't feel like I was watching a movie about Gotham, but it felt like I was actually in Gotham.

Crazy movie, I had a few small complaints, but over all...amazing. Best movie in a long long long long long time.

yes I agree about two-face, he was only two-face for like 1 or 2 days in the movie, for some reason I pictured him lasting a lot longer, it won't be a surprise if I see him in the next movie.

Ok, I didn't read any of the thread up to now cause I just have to say this.

The movie was WAY THE **** BETTER than I thought it would be. And Ledger really did do the Joker perfectly. The only complaint I have about the Joker, is that the Joker doesn't wear makeup. That's just how he looks. But other than that, ****ing awesome. Ledger actually brought out the extreme crazy that Nicholson didn't. Like when he dressed up in the nurses dress. Classic Joker.

Two Face was actually a bigger part of the movie than I thought he would be. I thought he was going to be the cliffhanger at the end to set up the next movie. The CGI on his face was ****ing amazing. I thought it weird how it took exactly half his face and hair, but I got over that rather quickly.

Rachel always looks way older than I think she should. And I'm not so sure why all the guys think she's the hottest thing since liquid hot magma. Though, her dieing really threw me off. I didn't think they'd do that so soon.

Other than Bales weird duck lips thing that he does when he talks, I think he made an amazing Batman and really showed the stress that being Batman puts on Bruce. I haven't seen that in any other movies than when Catwoman and Batman were making out on his couch and trying to keep the other from finding their wounds from the other person.

I know I'm missing something, but I can't remember what. But was there anything after the credits? I didn't stay to see. I feel like I should have.

There wasn't. You didn't miss anything other than the credits and the "Dedicated to the memory of Heath Ledger" thing

Since it seems that most liked more about the movie than disliked I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here. I'll start with this:

Not to break your enthusiasm but Nolan has expressed some concern about making a third one and whether he really wants to. After watching TDK I now see why.

First of all, although the Joker is not dead Heath Ledger is. If a third one was made I don't think Nolan would want to bring the Joker back as a different actor, especially after Ledger's stunning performance.

Point B, how could you top this? How could Nolan possibly make a sequel that could out do "The Dark Knight"?

Point C, for those of you who have hopes or suspicions that Two-Face is still alive, no he is not. I believe the shot at the end where Gordon is speaking in eulogy with a very large portrait of Harvey Dent behind him makes that quite clear. So that means Two-Face is out of the picture (no pun intended) as well as Rachel Dawes and Lucius Fox (since he quit).

So who's left?

Nolan doesn't want to bring back Scarecrow and even if he did Cillian Murphy does not want to play anymore villains in movies.

I don't think that there's really any other plausible threatening villains left that could be appropriately placed in the reality that Nolan's adaptations have established. The one exception I would make is Catwoman and that is after contrasting most of the alternatives. If someone wants me to go into detail on that topic I will. For now let's move on...

I'm with you on Bale's voice. I think it was better in the first. In TDK it sounded more forced than natural almost to the point where he sounded like a death metal singer.

However I don't think his character was better. If anything I think he was weaker, especially in dialogue. Most of his lines were really ineffective and shallow in comparison to just about everyone else. He wasn't written into the movie as powerful as he could have been especially as Batman.

Overall I just don't see a sequel happening at least with Nolan in control. There's too many factors that would mean a downgrade to begin with. Futhermore look at how Nolan ended it; Batman is now a criminal vigilante to the public of Gotham City but that's his destiny. He's "living long enough to see himself become the villain" as was said by Dent who "died the hero". The movie is a self-fufilling prophecy for Batman and ends on a note of near-complete closure.

It's right after all the actors names finish fading in and out directly before the scrolling credits. It reads "In memory of our friends Heath Ledger and Conway Wickliffe". Wickliffe was the stunt driver who was also killed while making TDK

Nolan doesn't have to top The Dark Knight. I'm not ever sure if that's possible. If he even manages to get it almost as good, it will be so amazing. Even if Heath hadn't died, I don't think they'd have Joker be the main villain two movies in a row. And it's pretty out of character for the Joker to not be the main villain in any movie he's in. Also, a LOT of this movie was still setting up Batman as a character, he's still new at this. They've got so much more they can develop him as he gains experience.

I'm not sure about Two Face, since they ARE trying to cover up that Harvey Dent became him. Maybe they just hope they can lock him up in Arkham, and leave it at that.

Lucius didn't quit - he said he'd be gone as long as the sonar machine was around. It was destroyed - he can stay with Wayne Enterprises.

Bale's voice was annoying sometimes, but it worked okay in other scenes. A lot depended on the setting.

As for villains, there's Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin, Killer Croc (depending on which version of him they use), Scarface, Bane (if slightly modified), Deadshot, Hush, King Snake, Lady Shiva, David Cain, etc. Admittedly, some of them are virtually unheard of by the general public. But still...

For that matter, it could quite possibly work for Nolan to create a villain of his own.

* * * * *

I'm fairly sure this is the best movie I've ever seen. I hope the next one emphasizes Batman's detective skills (there better be a next one. Otherwise, there will be riots in the streets, some started by various companies behind TDK, who will have realized that it's like printing your own money).

I know it will be hard to top this one, but I truly believe there's going to be another movie. A lot of people didn't expect a sequel after Batman Begins, but The Dark Knight came alone. Like Wade mentioned, theres a lot of villains that can be put in the new movie. I know Nolan said that he might not want to another one, but I believe he's going to change his mind, especially after he sees how much money this one is going to make.

I just have a feeling the way that The Dark Knight ended, that there's going to be another movie. That's my two cents on the matter.

"How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball...The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can." Babe Ruth

I think Bane still may be a great choice.

I'm still going to have to disagree with you on Catwoman Italiano. She's nonthreatening and exceedingly boring. Her powers? Boner inducing body and hairballs, two things that should never mix.

In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away . .
