I'm not a huge fan of Catwoman, but I do believe in being fair. She is an "Olympic level athlete, superb martial artist, (and) expert thief." And it's not like Joker has any powers.
And while she wouldn't cause the havoc on the city that some villains would, she's much more subtle, and could bring out Batman's detective side. I think she could be great as a secondary villain (and maybe even okay as a primary one).

Also, a LOT of this movie was still setting up Batman as a character, he's still new at this. They've got so much more they can develop him as he gains experience.

I don't think it was as concentrated on Batman's character as it should have been. The only real emphasis was put on his ability to endure and his incorruptability. It should have called more attention to his contradictions between being Batman as Bruce Wayne and another point that Alfred wasn't as strong of a character in this movie.

Why do people think Two-Face/Harvey Dent is still alive? He's DEAD. They're covering up what happened because if they found out their hero was corruptable they would lose more faith in the integrity of Gotham City.

More plausible than Two-Face being alive at least.

For that matter, it could quite possibly work for Nolan to create a villain of his own.
|
Many of the more far fetched villains like Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze are would be very difficult and trickey to write into the series without changing the limitations of the movie's reality.

Like I said, Nolan's still on the fence if not skeptical about making another sequel box office record-breaker or not. He cares more about his work then he does money.

Now that you guys have seen the movie, do you believe that the Oscar Buzz for Heath Ledger being nominated for Best Supporting Actor is deserving?
Personally I think it's well deserved, it's one of the best performace I've seen in a real long time, and I would defenitely vote for him. If he doesn't get nominated, I believe a lot of people will be angry, especially his cast mates.
Michael Caine even said that he knew from the first shoot that his performance would be outstanding, and if he doesn't get a nomination then he'd like to see the other nominees. That is saying a lot in my opinion, because Michael Caine as been in the movie business for a very long time. So he knows what he's talking about.

I think that he is very deseving, he was acting so well that if nobody told you then it'd be very hard to notice that it was him, it was a very uncommon thing for Ledger to do, it was the first time that he had done anything like it and it was an amazing final performance, but of course the fact that it was his last performance should not affect whether or not he gets it.

I think that Aaron Eckhart is also deserving of an Academy Award nomination. I realize that his outstanding performance is most likely going to be put to the side as everybody is focused on Heath Ledger but I thought Eckhart was just as good

Same here, I know he's got to come up with some way to cover his voice. But Bale's "Batman Voice" sounds to froggy to me. However that was the ONLY thing I had to complain about for this whole movie... trust me it was more than made up for!

Originally when I saw the pics and the quick glimpses of it in the tv spots and online trailers I was very skeptical. Batman gadgets rock, but for some reason I just didnt feel a "Bat Bike" fit in. Then when I saw the actual movie and how it came about.... I have to say it changed my whole perspective on the Bike. I loved it, very nice touch... I've always been a fan of the many faces of ever bat gadget.

Catwoman after the Halle Berry flick has lost all my respect. Phifers Catwoman was cool.... Berry's sucked. I dont want to see her in Nolans Future Movies.

Deserving? Lmao... He's so Deserving I think they should change the name of the award from the Oscars to the Ledgers! Hands down I wouldnt want to even be the opposition against Ledgers Joker. He deserves every award he possibly can for this performance.

Haha, I never thought about it that way, renaming the award would be pretty cool but it's so historic of a name that i don't think that they would do that.
He is possibly the best actor of his time.

I voted 9/10 for one reason - the casting of Maggie Gyllenhall. She's a very bright, intelligent actress, and I think she played the role too sexy in order to compensate. I agree with whoever said she looked old - I thought she looked much older than Christian Bale & Aaron Eckhart.
I was distracted by the Batman Voice at first, but after the scenes where he's just Bruce Wayne, I thought it worked fine.

Gyllenhall? Really? I thought she was the weakest link of the film. She was dry, lifeless, and just generally seemed like she wasn't that interested in being on set.
