The Superhero sequel is in a state of limbo;

There are no writers working on a Superman script now. The studio wants to figure it out. "It might be better to start from scratch," one exec admitted.

I can't say I'm suprised, I wasn't exactly bowled over by "Superman Returns". I thought the cast did a fine job but I just didn't feel like I took much from the over all experience. Starting from scratch might be a bit risky though, I'm not sure if a "Superman Begins" style film would work that well.

They could try to move him into the future where he helps build the JLA or something other than a restart. There many unexplored Superman tales.
Dooms Day would be a great way to start a new movie franchise from the Superman's that came after that.
The last movie was lacking and didn't keep the interest of the movie goers, but it did open up the door for Super Boy. Who knows we might see one of those in the near future.

Superman Returns was not a great flick but it was entertaining. Personally I'd rather them try and make a film with more flashy displays of his powers, they didn't do enough of that.

I think they're going to reboot the Superman franchise. SUPERMAN RETURNS seems to be in that gray area where nobody really disliked it but nobody loved it either.
Personally, I'd rather that DC took a look at producing movies based on some of it's other superheroes rather than just focusing on Batman and Superman over and over again.

Apparantly they are going in the direction of a reboot. Warner Bros. Confirms Superman Reboot - Superhero Hype!
It also mentions that it's put a hault to plans for Justice league and a Batman Vs Superman movie... I didn't even know that one was being planned. I for one am glad, right now a crossover would really mess with all the good Nolan is doing with Batman.

Batman vs Superman...would there really be any point in that?
I enjoyed Superman Returns, the only thing that i remember bothering me was Lois being thrown about that plane like a ragdoll and not breaking a bone.
