Lightbulb For Better or For Worse Officially Ends

If you've ever read newspaper comic strips then you know about "For Better or For Worse".

It lasted for nearly 30 years and was finally ended last Sunday.

FBorFW.com is The Official Website of Lynn Johnston's comic strip For Better or For Worse.

It is going to continue running in newspapers though. Starting a few days ago it began again with the first strip.

Popular comic strip ignites controversy - CNN.com

The author Lynn Johnston has said that she might make some new strips set in the previous years as the strip runs again.

I never read this strip much lately but I know it's been around forever. I didn't realize it had been around since before I was born.

I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel

Yeah, it's sad. =( My sister and her boyfriend actually adopted a dog from a local animal shelter the same day as the last strip was published, so they named their dog April. My sister has been an aspiring cartoonist her whole life and this strip had a lot of influence on her. It also started the same year she was born. So she felt naming the dog April was appropriate. =)

I had no clue that it had been around for so long.

I guess that starting back at the beginning is good you'd have to be 40 or so to remember the first strips that were in the newspaper, so barely anybody is going to remember.

I'm not much of a fan but I thought it was good from time to time.

"Ohh! OOOhhh!!!-Oh and again! I made it. I know it. I can't see it but I know I made it. Oh my God I made it. Alright, don't give up. This is for everything. This is when I don't have to do it. This one right here is when I don't have to do it, which leaves nothing else but the one. No I don't think so. Not there. God I wish I could turn the volume-OH **** Aahhh son of a **** I talk too much. ****." - 00vega -

I was never that into it (I have read chunks of it), however it has always been a surprisingly plot-driven family strip, as opposed to say Foxtrot. Story comic strips I've always had an issue with, as even when we got newspapers I rarely read them every day, however my parents liked it quite a lot.

I wonder what's the longest running strip done by the same author? Doonesbury?
