Does Fan Fiction Count?

Just wondering if anybody here either writes or reads superhero based fan fiction.

I do from time to time..You will find some good ones on the Marvel community boards.

There a few new up and coming comics where the story line was originally a fan based story. Even art too.
Comic companies are always on the look out for fresh and new talent.

I can't write one, but I can still draw and Ink them (Old school style)

I don't know if I agree with that. These days comic companies, especially the creatively bankrupt Marvel Comics seems to be more impressed with whatever big name they can lure away from Hollywood for five minutes to write a comic book. J. Michael Straczynski seems content to keep writing comics after BABYLON 5 came to an end since he apparently can't get a new television project going. And there's a recent issue of RUNAWAYS where Joss Whedon's name is bigger than than the title of the book.

I wrote one once that was going to be a retelling of the batman story but I had not time to work on it

Batman is one of my favorite characters but I don't think I could write a story about him simply because there's SO many Batman stories that have been done I don't think I could bring anything new to the character.

Well what I did was more a retelling in a more modern setting sort of like how marvel came out with their ultimate series that is a different spin on it

Don't talk to me about Marvel. I am SO disappointed in what they're putting out now. And you're talking to a comic book fan who was buying comics when they were 15 cents

Well it's no surprise to longterm Marvel fans that they were pretty much forced to sell the rights for many of their big name heros to be made into movies. That saved them from going out of business if you ask me.
