Re: Feedback question???

yes I agree. I have always thought that something like that would work. I always leave feedback right away when I sell something and the buyer pays for it. Their end of the bargain is done they paid and that's it. Then I send the package if there is any problems coming from that than the feedback is on me, but regardless the buyer paid on time and so I leave appropriate feedback because of it. I do feel that people should not have access to certain things until feedback is left.

Right or wrong, that's the way I do'er
Sorry to any who may disagree...but this is the way I do it too. For one thing, I am WAY too busy with my own life & things going on here to be sitting & leaving FB after every, single transaction. Not only that, but I have seen it happen way to often with other sellers that used to leave FB right after payment...and the buyer was a newbie & instead of contacting the seller with a complaint, they just went ahead & left a neg FB. If you look around at on ebay at some of the sellers who have alot of FB, most of them put a disclaimer in their description regarding FB...that FB will be left once it has been received...and if there is a problem with the item, contact seller first before leaving feedback. And I am human just like everyone else, I have made a mistake from time to time. And because of having this rule in place, those buyers contacted me & allowed me to rectify the problem. Some left me a positive FB & some did not leave FB...but it was better than getting a neg.

I sell & ship alot of items on ebay...once it's been shipped, it gets deleted off my sold items list. I don't go back and sort thru them or anything. Then usually once or twice a week I go thru my feedback & leave it for the ones that just left it for me over those past few days. Also, when they leave FB this lets me know that they received their item & the transaction is complete.

Truthfully, you're gonna find everyone on here does it different and everyone has their own reasons for the way they do it. There is no perfect solution to the FB. This is just how I do it with my auctions.

Re: Feedback question???

Feedback is voluntary - that is the way it is, the way it has always been. There will be a new system coming out - purported by the T&S folks and EBay Live - that negative feedback will be removed if the person does not participate in dispute resolution. This means - filing an Item Not Received, SNAD - so the seller can respond, or filing a NPB - so the buyer can respond.

I just recently got through with a NPB. The person is now NARU'd (wonder about their other ID?) That person did not respond once during the process, but plenty of emails prior. In this case, if I'd have negged, and the other person negged back - there would be a case for feedback removal.

You know I really wish people would stop saying that. That's not the right word. It assumes that people with the opposite viewpoint would argue that it's involuntary, which is also not the right word. Voluntary describes a process that you control yourself, but has nothing to do with the things that result from that choice. Involuntary is a process that could be controlled yourself if you put in extra effort to stop it, but on an ordinary level it operates independently of one's will. Involuntary is like our digestive processes, nervous ticks, eye blinking, the reproduction of cells, stuff like that. So if you say that feedback is "voluntary" (as opposed to involuntary), then you really haven't said much about feedback at all. My hand slapping you upside your head is voluntary. But that doesn't make it ok for me to do now does it?

Re: Feedback question???

Feedback? I try to always remember to post feedback when I buy something and it arrives as expected. But I too am human and sometimes forget to do so or I just can't stand the SCREEN any longer (screen and scream - sometimes the too are just way too close), so I say I'll do it tomorrow and then I forget. If someone has 12,000 FBs and 99% are positive I think some buyers think, what the heck, what difference does it make and they don't realize that your FB needs to be current to be relevant to buyers in the know.

One question that I've been asked by friends is how on earth do you ever get enough positive feedback to make sales, because it's hard to sell anything if you don't have a decent number of FBs. The old "I can't get this job because they want experience, but how do I get experience if I can't get a job?" routine. I've never had a really good answer for anyone. So, I'll throw it open to the forum ... how did you build your FB when you first starting selling?

Re: Feedback question???

I've watched people go from zero feedback to 100's in just days. All they did was start a store and start selling dresses for a reasonable price and soon the feedbacks starting rolling in. I just found someone on ebay that had some adorable dresses that I wanted for my daughter. their feedback score at the time was only 10 and by the time the auction was over that I was watching their feedback was 50 and then by the time I received the dress and went to leave my own feedback it was over 100 so they certainly are building their reputation rather quickly.

Re: Feedback question???

You'd have to have a lot of inventory to build your feedback that quickly, I think.

It's silly, because I once had 0 feedback score and gradually built it up without having a store, so I know some people will take a chance on a new seller, but I still have trouble trusting someone with no feedback. I know that's not fair, 'cause I was there once and someone trusted me, but I just get this weird feeling sometimes about sellers with no feedback. Too cautious, I guess. I should live a little

Re: Feedback question???

People can also build up their feedback overnite or within the same day if they stay at it by buying eBooks on eBay. There's ALOT of sellers on there who sell them for anywhere from $0.01 - $1.00 each, so people can "buy" their feedback very quickly & very cheaply. I see it on there all the time.

Most people don't care when the "Newbie" symbol is next to someone's ID as long they have a few feedback, but when it's 0 feedback it seems to be an automatic red flag for alot of people.
