Good Point Clickers Games
I recently played Grim Fandango, Starship Titanic and The Longest Journey. Those were all find, but I'm looking for something more. Are there any good, current titles I should keep my eye out for? |

All the best ones were out 10-15 years back but some good ones from this decade:
Syberia 1 & 2 - I prefered 1. The Longest Journey - Know you already played it but just giving it some extra love. Escape From Monkey Island - Not a patch on the originals but still fun. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - Sequel. Again first is better imo. Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon. Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy. Best ones highlighted. There really haven't been too many reasonable ones I can think of and some use the point and click name very loosely compared to retro definition. If you want my recommendation from any era, then this list gets bigger (and better!). Last edited by Syndicate; 08-31-2008 at 05:29 AM.. |

Sure.
I've also played Riven and Myst. I didn't really like either of those. I guess I didn't give them much of a chance. :\ |

The Secret of Monkey Island.
Monkey Island - LeChuck's Revenge. The Curse of Monkey Island - AKA the divine trinity. If you remotely enjoy PnC, you need to play all three! Full throttle. Day of the Tentacle. Grim Fandango. - Beneath A Steel Sky. (I'm pretty sure these two were released as freeware) Flight Of The Amazon - Indiana Jones And The Fate of Atlantis. Discworld I & II. Simon The Sorcerer series. Sam And Max: Hit The Road. Broken Sword I & II. Hook. I think there's a couple more I liked that escape me but there's some of the best games I've ever played on that list. Excluded any with 'modern graphics' as I think the best ones had the more simple but charming cartoon graphics. Not all were critically acclaimed but almost all are considered classic gems in their own way. There's no better place to start than Monkey Island though. The humour is timeless. The new Sam and Max games are also pretty fun. Forgot to mention them. I quite liked Myst but many people did find it boring too. Never played Riven though. Happy gaming if you do play any and let me know what you think!

Sam and Max was my favourite. I know Synd already mentioned it but if you haven't played it yet then you should definitely get on that.

My faves in no particular order:
Yes, all the LucasArts games for sure. Tex Murphy adventures (Under a Killing Moon & Pandora Directive were the better 2). Rama (game based on Arthur C. Clarke's story). The Neverhood (stop motion built entirely from clay - weird, but has a certain allure and some good puzzles.) The Last Express (murder mystery) Lighthouse. (Closer to Myst but with a little more dialogue and wicked hard puzzles but more reality based.) And here's a good list: Adventure game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia There's another game I can't remember the name of and doesn't seem to be on that list. |
